Terrestrial. If not, any suggestions as to why I can get BBC1 and ITV but not the others.

Checked aerial and it appears normal.

Are you on digital, If so you are either experiencing a storm or you need to retune. If it's terrestrial, you aren't in an area that has turned off the analogue signal are you?

pushchair · 20/12/2008 21:51

Tunbridge Wells not due to be turned off yet. Surely they would not do this 4 days before Christmas?

So you are on analogue? Bugger. Have you tried retuning?

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 20/12/2008 21:58

another thread on it
thought it might help to link the 2 together

whomovedmychocolate · 20/12/2008 21:59

Have you tried another tv? Or spoken to neighbours, your local transmitter could be down? Is it bbc 1 and 2 that are gone?

pushchair · 20/12/2008 22:02

Called one neighbour and hers was ok but here there is a choice of transmittors- crystal palace and somewhere else, so hers may be from a different one to us.
How do you retune?
We now have NO channels! weep

Which way does her aerial point? It will give you a clue if shes on the same transmitter.

pushchair · 20/12/2008 22:08

Dont know but she was in the midst of a noisy and busy bedtime when I spoke to her so dont want to hassle her outside and staring at roof of her rather enormous house. Also DP just announced that when he said aerial looked fine he couldn't in fact see it as the loft window has condensation on it on the outside. Man viewing and man version of 'yes its fine'!

grrrrrrrr for you!!!!

Mine was off earlier too, nr T Wells.

I think (note think, I'm not 100% sure) but the two tv towers at Crystal Palace (one is called Crystal Palace and one is called the Croydon tower because it's just down the road) transmit different channels. Crystal Palace transmits BBC channels and the Croydon tower does ITV and Ch4 (I work in telly and when I worked at ITV we always used to use the Croydon tower to transmit our pics, now I'm at the BBC we use the Crystal Palace tower)

When we used to use microwave transmitter trucks for live broadcasts (it's all satellite now) we always used to look at the tv aerials and point our dish in that direction as the vast majority of tv aerials in London point towards Crystal Palace/Croydon.

It sounds to me, if you're getting a mixture of channels there's some kind of fault transmitting in your area. it doesn't appear there's a known fault in your area, but it may just not have been picked up yet.

That link mention a weak BBc2 signal in kent.
