Soooo.. Lead Balloon - is it really funny?

Is it just that I don't get it? I don't find it that funny at all, in fact I find myself getting irritated by the situations he finds himself in (as similar sorts of things happen to me as well quite a lot); MORE irritated by the situations he creates by being an arse - and overall I'm quite disappointed in it, cos I really like Jack Dee and had high hopes.

I keep trying, but it never works for me...
.. am I the only one?

I like it. I think it works in a way similar to The Office i.e it's kind of like real life but not, in a kind of slightly cringy way.

yeah, I wasn't overkeen on the Office either tbh. Oh well.

I love it.
It is painfully funny.
He ahs no redeeming features and deserves all he gets.

oh I can't - I tried every episode for the last series and ended up turning it off anywhere between 1/2 and 3/4 of the way through, before I slit my wrists. Just tried again tonight and the very first situation just made me sooo miserable - that's EXACTLY what would happen to me in that situation.

defo an age thing then - not being rude at all, it's just that Jack Dee is roughly my age, so I can associate far more closely with his situation than I could with Victor Meldrew's. And I used to work with people like some of those in the Office - it was anything but funny.

I'll just get me coat...

Magda is wonderful, especially if you see how she really speaks in the footage at the end of Series 1 DVD. DS1 (15) and I love it. He thinks Sam is cool. I like Michael, find him very funny.

thumbElf · 18/12/2008 22:59

i do like Magda. She is the saving grace of the show for me. When I get that far.
