Oh Lord have mercy.... was this not an appalling lifestyle smugfest? I hate this kind of programme so much and all the uberbodenbabies
They're just so pleased with themselves someone take them off the telly! People that smug should not be allowed to do it in public!!

could not bear to watch it for all those reasons ipanema ! how are you doing, how is Miss Miranda ?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/12/2008 16:52

I saw a bit, smugtastic.

It all seemed so false.

bluebump · 18/12/2008 16:53

I watch it because as I said on another thread somewhere I live in the same town as him. I just like seeing places I know on the telly

ipanemagirl · 18/12/2008 17:06

Fair enough bluebump I would do the same!

The HESSIAN STOCKINGS! Oh have MERCY!

Hello MAS!!! All well here! DD is disappearing into her chins and cheeks! How are you? Are you ready for Xmas? Are you going to cook a whole lamb underground like Willie and Tania did on c4 last night!? Lovely to see you! [mwah mwah mwah sorry for mwahing but I watched too many mwahers on telly last night!!]

Apparenlty Willie's wife is called Tania Rosamund Harcourt-Cooze. That is a hugely posh name. She is apparently extremely related to ST Coleridge. I'm not sure if that lets her off that extremely posh name or makes it worse! Great looking woman though, I can't take it away from her. But the whole programme was a Waitrose/John Lewis/Boden ad.

oh I should have gritted my teeth to watch it - had a glut of Nigella followed by Hugh 'I am so clever ,me' Fearnley -Fearnley ...so couldn't stomach anything else. Am fine here, have a cold, but mustn't grumble

sicksantadenier · 18/12/2008 17:15

missed it!

don't mind watching him, his family and lifestyle are opposite to me, but I wouldn't swap with him

ipanemagirl · 18/12/2008 17:15

Oh I saw some of Nigella too but blocked it out immediately I'd seen it. I'm still in shock having seen her library/study in that genealogy prog she did. Swoon, one's own LIBRARY!!!!!!
Imagine! I don't know why I forgive Nigella her smugfestivals, I think it's because she says herself that her life has had so much tragedy that now she just carpes the diem.
But all these progs are strangely compelling aren't theY?

It's so funny because the town we live in is SO not like that, in fact it has a reputation for being full of inscestuous (sp?)families (I am not from here I might point out!) and is a very poor area despite having a posh private school here. I certainly had never heard of Boden until I joined MN

ipanemagirl · 18/12/2008 17:22

bluebump, please forgive my envy based posts, there is little justification for them! I'm sure it's a lovely place. Their house looks fabulous.
It's just part of me thinks one shouldn't show off one's house on t'telly nor one's lovely family, I think it's just bragging and therefore vulgar. Make chocolate mate, do that, don't sell your family!
This is just my humble opinion of course!
Bluebump it must be good to live down there is it Devon? ARe you far from the sea?

OP posts:
bluebump · 18/12/2008 17:27

Oh their house is lovely, I can see it from my workplace! I'm just as envious as you don't worry, especially as they are living this lovely life in the same town as me! My life is very different! I have never seen him nor his family in the town actually thinking about it.

Yes Devon is lovely, this is in Mid Devon (Tiverton) which itself is pretty dull but we are 5 mins from the M5 and probably about 40 mins from either coast so not too close and about 15 mins from Exeter and plenty of greenery around.

ipanemagirl · 18/12/2008 17:31

Do they have acres of land all around it? It looks like they have enough room to roast a whole flock of sheep under the front lawn!

I covet their house (and a husband who owns a chocolate factory). But yes, it was smug-a-rama, wasn't it? His wife was a misog, too.

bluebump · 18/12/2008 17:35

I'm not sure actually, there is lots of green space around it but i've never got close enough to be able to tell if it's theirs or not! There aren't too many houses on that side of the road so probably!

One of my colleagues and her parents and 3 kids were interested in renting it years ago so I don't imagine it's small if all of them thought they could live happily there!

wigparty · 18/12/2008 17:54

God it was painful wasn't it! I tuned in as I was actually quite interested in how he got his chocolate business off the ground, but last night was vomit-worthy

stressedsanta · 18/12/2008 17:55

well i thought it was a lovely show
they have worked hard to build up their business.
did look at the car a bit like

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 18/12/2008 22:27

no wonder his wife is a mizzog, married to him

he's so fookin' annoying

ipanemagirl · 19/12/2008 13:10

how much of his over dyed HAIR gets into his chocolate dya think?

OP posts:
wigparty · 19/12/2008 14:01

The running commentary didn't help - "ah, but nothing is every ordinary at the haribo-boobs or whatever they're called bla bla bla yada yada yada

blossomsmine · 01/01/2009 01:38

Only just found this thread so sorry for adding to it abit late in the day!
I watched this and was struck by how false it looked when he was going round to his 'workers' with mincepies and they didn't seem to know who the hell he was even though he was referring to them as good friends!
I did hear in the previous willie series that he doesn't own that house (not that that matters!) he rents it and they were having serious money problems....

bluebump · 01/01/2009 13:15

He doesn't own the house you are right. Someone I work with wanted to rent it many years ago from the owners, it's a lovely house, I can see it from my work!

blossomsmine · 03/01/2009 17:13

It does look a lovely house, wonder if he will get the chance to buy it at some point....or maybe they are happy as they are.
You must live in a lovely area bluebump

bluebump · 03/01/2009 20:02

Hah, if only - there are nice areas, such as where he lives, but the rest is pretty average! I do love Devon as a whole though!

blossomsmine · 05/01/2009 23:57

Clever filming then, it kind of makes everything look nice! Yes, Devon is a lovely place, lucky you
