What a noble thing to do.

OP posts:
ruddynorah · 19/11/2008 12:10

huh? seriously?

not sure that's noble. he's entertained a lot of people. spose it comes down to ..is it a dance contest or an entertainment show..

Macdog · 19/11/2008 12:10

??

CatIsSleepy · 19/11/2008 12:10

awwwww no way

can't believe so many people were making such a silly fuss about this

he was entertaining people...surely it's an entertainment show? bless him he's lovely

Actual news report

sorry for disbelieving you

ajandjjmum · 19/11/2008 12:13

Don't really blame him!

Thomcat · 19/11/2008 12:13

They put this show and the dancers up fopr a public vote.
The public vote to keep him on.
The public, the viewers the whole programme is made for, want to see JS. They want him to entertain them.
It's a popularity contest like I'm a Celeb get me outta here and BigBrother, X Factor. Good singers leave, more likable peopel saty. Same as the other reality TV shows.
It's bloody ridiculous

Macdog · 19/11/2008 12:14

x post mm22bys

CatIsSleepy · 19/11/2008 12:14

yup if it's really about dancing they should do away with the public vote
then again reading that report sounds like he would have been seriously embarassed to actually win it

DrNortherner · 19/11/2008 12:15

I am gutted he has gone, I assume he has bowed down to pressure from the professional dancers and producers.

Well Im sorry, but they chose John to be a contestant and they must be prepered for any contestant to win the show if the public vote.

They are happy to make millions from the public who pick up the phone and vote yet feel they can tell us who we should and shouldn't vote for?

I feel like bouycotting the show now.

hatwoman · 19/11/2008 12:15

I don't watch Strictly. But I have a feeling I am missing out on a great cultural moment. one where the public sticks two fingers up at the makers and presenters of these faintly ridiculous but obviously entertaining programs, and starts singing "My way". marvellous.

hatwoman · 19/11/2008 12:16

oh. he really has gone. shame.

shangrila · 19/11/2008 12:20

Suspicious old me thought it a bit strange when the lovely Kristina didn't appear on ITT with him. (Was it just last night, or the night before? I seem to be living on Planet Strictly at the moment.)

I wonder what Kristina's take on all this was and how she really felt?

Botbot · 19/11/2008 12:21

Just goes to show how fixed these things must have been before the votes started having to be regulated after all the scandals.

Majeika · 19/11/2008 12:59

Am disgusted with Strictly!

they should never have invited him on the show in the first place - they obviously thought he would be crap and be the underdog.

He has a damn good try every week and he might not be the best but he is lovely and entertaining and should still be there.

Hardly life and death stuff is it? It is an entertainment show and he entertained me.

OrmIrian · 19/11/2008 13:04

There is a debate about this amongst the account dept to my right as we speak! I would say it's a rough 70/30 split in favour of John S. Very heated. It may come to blows!

gothicmama · 19/11/2008 13:05

I always thought it was about the most improved each week

GypsyMoth · 19/11/2008 16:41

exactly. john is actually learning something from each dance, and gaining confidence. he does improve, albeit slightly.

rachel stevens, well,i've watched her footwork, and dancing in competition is mainly about what the feet do......she's not "all that".

plus3 · 19/11/2008 16:53

that is disgraceful. I wouldn't have voted for him (mind you I don't actually vote for any of them!) but it is a competition opened to everyone...he is a valid contestant, therefore able to proceed through the competition as the points and voting dictates.

Shame, I love strictly, but absolutley do not like bullying.

Tn0g · 19/11/2008 16:56

Did he walk off like a big cuddly teddy bear?

I shall be boycotting the programme from now on and sticking needles in an Arlene voodoo doll.

Macdog · 19/11/2008 18:53

Facebook Group hereRe-instate John or refund my licence fee!

asdmumandteacher · 19/11/2008 18:55

Was he pushed?

TeenyTinyTorya · 19/11/2008 18:59

I don't think he should have left, but he probably felt a lot of pressure to do so. Can't believe what James Jordan said about him on ITT, about how he was just trying to make himself look good. I liked him, although I would have preferred him to go over Cherie.
