Anyone see Blanche's tirade against Postman Pat on Corrie?

I thought it was hilarious. She was talking with Peter's son who is supposed to be 5 and Postman Pat is his favourite programme. It was so well written - she basically said what a work of fiction it is "Early in the morning, Just as day is dawning" - you must be joking, more like midday, scattering pink rubber bands everywhere or rifling through your mail for any cash - or words to that effect. It was very cutting but very funny I thought. She also commented on their lack of "caps" but I can't remember her words - something to do with wearing shorts I think. It was a piece of pure Corrie magic - I hope someone puts it on YouTube - the Post Office Management bods should watch it and include it in their next corporate video!

I saw it while flicking through channels last night and thought it was hilarious so sat and watched rest of episode and now think I'm a Corrie adict again after not watching for 5 yrs!!

The comments about Mrs Goggins cowering behind her counter for fear of hoodies (or something like that) was ace too.

You don't get writing like that on EastEnders!

saadia · 06/11/2008 16:18

it was funny, I do like Corrie's depiction of "maturer" people.

Freckle · 06/11/2008 16:38

I thought it was extremely funny. Blanche is a terrible old witch, but she does come out with some classic lines.

Yes she's a star. Did anyone see last weeks where she;s tryin g to convince Deidre that some woman is a lesbian and said 'she;s got a cat called Navratilova'!! Brill

southeastastra · 06/11/2008 21:09

i watch the saturday repeats, blanche get the best lines doesn't she

glasjam · 06/11/2008 23:04

Ah yes last week's one was good too - Navratilova the cat - that one was very funny and quite near the knuckle - I bet they love writing for her character - just by virtue of her age they can get away with murder! It's such light relief in contrast to the unrelenting misery of Carla and Liam saga.

What does Eastenders have? Jane doing stand-up "comedy"...

Firework night and she's off for a bath with Glen Miller - 'It'll be just like the Blitz'. Classic!

PuppyMonkey · 07/11/2008 19:11

Blanche is indeed a hero of our time....

Been watching Jane from EE doing her stand-up routine, how silly. They always cut away to another scene just as she starts as they obviously haven't got the talent to actually write her some jokes. Lol!

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/11/2008 19:13

I can't actually watch Jane doing her stand up - it makwes me embarrassed

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/11/2008 19:14

though she is one of my favourite 'Enders characters

ilovejonty · 07/11/2008 22:56

Yes that was entertaining and sadly very reflective of the postal service ( - 2.30pm - if you're luckly!) Whatever happened to the days of first and second post deliveries..?

sweetkitty · 07/11/2008 22:59

Our post was actually delivered at 5.30pm this evening (!)

I so adore Blanche she is brilliant!

southeastastra · 10/11/2008 20:33

i love julie too, talking about her mate's hair do during a rain of ash at the firework display:

she went out looking like amy winehouse, came back looking like don king

daftpunk · 10/11/2008 20:40

andyrobo237 · 10/11/2008 20:50
