i go away for an hour and you fill the thread!

Seriously... mariah week?

I may skip it...

OP posts:

I can't believe Austin was voted out. Dh told me on Sunday morning and I also thought he was joking, or talking about Strictly!

Enoughan (or whatever his name is) is absolutely crap. How dare he attempt to murder a Barry Manilow song.

Laura - Fabulous.

Diana - hmm, I think I like her and she is very cute, but the voice is a bit odd, imo.

Alexandra - dull, nothing original at all.

JLS - Liked them to start with, but started to FF them now. The little one (chic's brother ha ha) is a crap singer.

Daniel - what's with the ginger rinse? I did feel for Scott. Easy to convey emotion when you have such an awful experience to draw on. He's no better than a pub singer.

Rachel - I just don't get it. She doesn't sit comfortably with me at all, I can't believe they questioned Austin's likeability (which I did agree with btw), when I can't think of anyone that likes Rachel!

Ruth - boring.

And I love Mariah.

NosfeRaahhTu · 04/11/2008 15:10

right at the beginning of the show i actually said i'd put money on an Austin/Austin xfactor/strictly final. Good thing i didn't! he wasn't my favourite, but he was certainly better than a few left in!! Eoghan has totally lost it, and i can only assume the sound in the studio is far better than my telly, for the last two weeks he has been awful. But his 'imagine' was good.

Glad someone agrees with me about Alex, i know she has a good voice, but if you heard her on record, would she sound any different to all the other big voices out there. Wasn't her mother in Soul ll Soul?

However, i hate Mariah, all that warbling and vocal histrionics really annoys me. But please let it be the end of Daniel!

moosmummy · 04/11/2008 17:23

It says on heatworld site that Rachel is refusing to work with Dannii!

Her song the first week was bad but since then she's not had awful songs. I think that the public just don't like her because she's so aggressive and that's why she was in the bottom. She was terrible on xtra factor, really moody and she'd got through - not the kind of person that i warm too!!

Interesting to see what happens - i do love a bit of gossip!

Agree about Eoghan, we thought he sounded absolutely awful on saturday and couldn't believe the comments that he got - it was like they'd watched someone else!

Also agree about Alexandra, voice is amazing but not distinctive.

Not a Mariah lover or hater but think it'll be interesting, can't wait for Britney though!!

moosmummy · 04/11/2008 17:24

Sorry about the exclamation marks - got carried away...........

midnightexpress · 04/11/2008 17:29

Diana (as a friend of mine pointed out) sounds just like Fozzie Bear when she sings. And the hand is very annoying.

And Eoghan can't sing. He's rubbish. Get him off. Along with Daniel.

Alex and Laura are the only decent singers IMO.

anniebear · 04/11/2008 18:06

I can imagine she doesnt want to work with Danni, she looks like she wouldnt want to work with anyone!!!

I pointed out further down that when she came onto the Xtra Fac on saturday, none of the others even really looked at ehr or cared if she was there or wasnt

I wonder if she doesnt get on with any of the others in the house

moosmummy · 04/11/2008 19:03

Sorry Anniebear, dip in and out so must have missed your earlier comment. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she didn't get on with the others, she wouldn't be my ideal housemate!

jenk1 · 05/11/2008 10:28

yes rachel has sacked Danni!!!

sacked

MrsJamin · 05/11/2008 10:42

OOhh interesting. I wonder how they will talk about it on Saturday.

anniebear · 05/11/2008 12:05

No apology needed moosmummy, honeslty!

Just glad some one has read what I put lol, posts can kinds get lost in a big thread

Hope Rachel goes soon

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/11/2008 12:07

i think i heard that dannii isn't coming back next year.
no loss there!

anniebear · 05/11/2008 12:13

doesnt say she was sacked exactly does it?

I thought it says she wants more control

I know it says it in the title but a spokesperson says not

I dont think Danni should have picked her in the first place, she has too much attitude and can imagine her to be awful to work with

Furball · 05/11/2008 13:16

I like the end bit

'X Factor boss Simon Cowell is cracking down on the judges' constant use of clichés when critiquing performances.
He issued a list of banned phrases after producers complained the panel were constantly repeating the same comments.
The favourite, 'You've been on an incredible journey' is now a no-no, along with 'You really made that your own' and 'You nailed that performance tonight'.
The lines 'You are potentially world class' and 'You are what this competition is all about' have also been ruled out.
If the judges, including Dannie Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh fail to turn up new material, Cowell will reportedly be turning to a team of writers to draft ideas'

Looks like our drinking games out the window! - do you think he mumsnets? or maybe its sinita

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/11/2008 13:19

rachel isn't hte ifrst one to go it alone.
that irish girl group, the whatchamahooha sisters, did the same thing, only it was simon they chucked.

NosfeRaahhTu · 05/11/2008 14:33

furball-NOOOOOO!! He cannot ban our favourite phrases- and i don't think they are capable of anything other than cliche-speak!!!

And Simon is one of the worst offenders!

Rofl that Sinitta is a mumsnetter- doubt it would be Simon, he doesn't DO kids, hence why he and his girlfriend have split up!

(Or maybe Terri lurks on here sometimes, and she told him? hello Terri (waves))

MrsJamin · 05/11/2008 16:56

as a passing note, did anyone see that sex education show on C4 when they interviewed sinitta about adopting? I thought she came over really normal and nice, and the kids were just adorable.

NosfeRaahhTu · 05/11/2008 17:14

ooh, maybe Sinitta IS an mner then! (waves at sinitta!)-

NosfeRaahhTu · 05/11/2008 17:15

(waves at any of Simon's other ex's that may be lurking)

Ambi · 05/11/2008 21:37

Furball, the most used phrase I've noticed is "that was your best performance - by a MILE!" Do they measure them by miles now?

Febes · 06/11/2008 20:10

Signing in so I don't lose you all.

NosfeRaahhTu · 07/11/2008 17:32

have just read that Diana has laryngitis(sp?) and lost her voice earlier in the week. I like Diana, so hope this doesn't mean she will have to pull out. Not sure if she will be automatically disqualified...

(sits and waits for all the posts saying she sang like she had a sore throat anyway, losing her voice is a god send, chop off her hands etc etc...

Furball · 07/11/2008 18:30

when they do the bit about the person just before they sing, theres always abit of drama and people like brian/simon and louis saying 'well, if they can't do it, they'll be out' or 'if their voice doesn't hold out on the night, it could be curtains' always makes me at how they make out the the person could cock it up big time and then of course they come on and sing it OK

NosfeRaahhTu · 08/11/2008 12:10

i have been wracking my brains trying to think of Mariah songs. I am not a fan at all (though i have a soft spot for all 'all i want for christmas is you' ,fantasy (cos of tom tom club ripoff sample) and do own a copy of 'music box' -got it cheap from work i'm sure)

Alex will obviously be o.k, as it is very much her style anyway ( and Mariah DID cover 'I'll be there' which Al sang on jacko week)

I can't imagine anything being appropriate for Daniel- but then i said that about disco, and he still got through.

unknownrebelbang · 08/11/2008 15:10

he got through - doesn't mean there was something suitable for him, lol.

cyteen · 08/11/2008 17:35

i've seen the songlist for tonight - ballads, ballads and more ballads. ffs, you'd think one of them could manage Heartbreaker
