Does anyone else remember Ludwig?

It was in that 5 minute slot just before the 6 O'Clock news - early 80's ish. What was it all about? - I know I liked it, but am struggling to describe it. This is the only youtube reference I can find, sadly.

Hassled · 18/10/2008 20:25

Yes!! But was it an egg or an alien?

Ohhhh, Ludwig!

Beethoven. Egg. That was about the size of it, wasn't it?

southeastastra · 18/10/2008 20:26

it was depressing

ScaryHalloweenSquonkRAAR · 18/10/2008 20:27

I always thought it was an egg.

Never thought about it being an alien... hmm...

Hassled · 18/10/2008 20:30

But there must have been plots and stuff, surely? All I can remember was the egg/alien, Beethoven and yes, a slightly maudlin, bleak sort of atmosphere. But things must have happened - even the BBC in the early 80s can't have filled 5 minutes with a depressed egg and some classical music.

I remember Ludwig.

And another one called Munchausen or something similar?

wessexgirl · 18/10/2008 20:31

Was there a bird in it as well?

blueskyandsunshine · 18/10/2008 20:31

Kenneth Williams, and a blue ghosty thing?

Hassled · 18/10/2008 20:34

"Kenneth Williams, and a blue ghosty thing"

Oh dear God, what WAS that programme? That wasn't Ludwig - there was a camp ghost - arghh! This is doing my head in.

Bleedodgy · 18/10/2008 20:37

this i mean

slayerette · 18/10/2008 20:39

DH says that Ludwig was a happy egg. Apparently the plot was that the egg played the music that matched what it met - the bit of Beethoven it chose to play suited the atmosphere at the time, iyswim. That's not very clear, is it?

blueskyandsunshine · 18/10/2008 20:41

oh yes willo the wisp, what a couple of bizarre programme ideas

cartoonists on mushrooms surely

Mercy · 18/10/2008 20:47

oohoh, look at this all about Ludwig

southeastastra · 18/10/2008 20:48

it was made to bore kids to sleep

Hassled · 18/10/2008 20:52

Mercy - thank you for that site (all I need to find out now if how the guy who wrote the site got to show it to his kids) - and Slayorette, that goes some way towards explaining how they filled 5 minutes

I remember Ludwig, and I remember thinking 'eh?' but also liking it. It was strangely comforting.

But willo the wisp was creepy.
