3/8 - Falls the Shadow (Part 1)
Bradfield's inexhaustible supply of expendable prostitutes comes under the spotlight once more as yet another of the town's numerous serial killers strikes. Women picked up in the red light district are being beaten to death and dumped on wasteland and the police are rudderless without the help of chaotic forensic psychologist Dr Tony Hill (Robson Green). But Tony has problems of his own. He's at a conference on experimental psychology and one of his colleagues meets a nasty end (and it's really nasty, even by Wire in the Blood standards). Soon it's clear that some demented soul has it in for female psychologists. TV serial killers are always clever, and this one leaves quotes from Nietzsche at his crime scenes, a name Tony can't spell, judging by his notes. It's the usual mixture of the inane and the barbaric, though the urbane Pip Torrens brings a bit of class as a no-nonsense detective inspector.
