I love Morse on TV, but the books are bad.

Colin Dexter must praise the day John Thaw was cast.

lottiejenkins · 08/09/2008 17:08

I totally adore Morse........ have even been on a "Morse Weekend" to Oxford,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

frazzledbutcalm · 09/09/2008 12:06

I'd love a morse weekend! Where did you hear about it?

ranting · 09/09/2008 12:08

Oh I love Morse, he's just such a curmudgeon in a good way, perversely I loathe Frost, can't stand it.

But Morse, Morse is excellent.

lottiejenkins · 09/09/2008 14:04

Mine was an organised coach tour....which meant we stayed outside Oxford and did the walking tour with a guide.I have found this for you..........
www.oxfordcity.co.uk/info/tours.html
Hope this is helpful.

frazzledbutcalm · 10/09/2008 13:43

RTKangaMummy · 10/09/2008 14:36

lottiejenkins · 11/09/2008 21:52

I love morse, nothing compares.

A tour - now that would be marvellous

lottiejenkins · 12/09/2008 16:30

Glad i have made you all so happy !! Whats your favourite episode?
I have a few:-
Promised Land(Australian one where he calls Lewis Robbie
The one in Italy(love the music in that)
The one with umpteen bodies popping up all over the church.

The ones i didnt particularly like were the one in the brewery and the one with man hiding in the woods in a shack.

The one that scared the bejesus out of me was the one with Keith Allen, i dont like watching that one on my own..... keep thinking he may pop up behind the sofa!!

PheasantPlucker · 12/09/2008 16:53

Is the Italian one the episode with Frances Barber as the opera singer?

OP posts:
Guitargirl · 12/09/2008 17:05

Ooooo, I LOVE Morse, so much so that I just cannot watch the last episode where he dies. And I don't watch Lewis either.

The last time I was in Oxford I went for a drink in the Randolph just for the Morse factor. Sad, I know.

Mercy · 12/09/2008 17:11

I love Morse too (as does my Mum!)

I like the books too, just different to the tv programme - in fact some books work better, other times it's the tv programme.

lottiejenkins · 12/09/2008 19:41

Yes PP that is the one with Frances Barber.... I watch Lewis i think its brill and done with great respect to Morse.....

lottiejenkins · 14/09/2008 12:03

Bumping this .... what are other peoples fave/least fave Morses??

scaryteacher · 14/09/2008 14:22

Favourite one is Masonic Mysteries. I also really enjoyed Fat Chance, and the one where the driving instructor did it. I love Twilight of the Gods as well.

Morse fan here too. Fat Chance is my favourite. Wanted the old misery to get some action for a change but those morals of his... > We went to Oxford but only under our own steam. Would love a Morse tour
