"You miss a stair and your whole life goes down the plughole," moans Richard Briers as Larry near the start of this funny, moving drama about old age. Eighty-something Larry spends his days looking after wife Jeannie, trying to break through the fog of her Alzheimer's. But then he breaks his ankle and she has to go into a care home. Briers is on brilliant form as Larry, who's fun, full of life and maddening by turns. You can see how he gets on the nerves of his son Oliver, neatly played by Kevin Whately, particularly when Larry comes to stay. The story isn't just for our entertainment - it's part of a Comic Relief campaign to alert us to the way the elderly are treated, and often mistreated, when they're at their most powerless.
