man, some of those frocks are serious shockfrocks! urgh
and the poison dwarf serving is quite frightening as well

PenelopePitstops · 31/07/2008 23:14

the bit in the airport that mother is nasty

PenelopePitstops · 31/07/2008 23:14

that should have been!

Sidge · 31/07/2008 23:15

Those American pageants are vile - I can't believe the way they portray those girls, they just look freaky

OP posts:
nancy75 · 31/07/2008 23:16

the pageants are so popular in america, wtf is wrong with people?

madcol · 31/07/2008 23:16

The mother has got BIG issues. It is grotesque. The beauty queens are freaky but all htose playboy bunny motifs aroud the house are quite sinister IMO.

Niecie · 31/07/2008 23:17

I have my hands over my eyes (when I'm not typing obviously) watching through my fingers. Cringeworthy.

How sad that they just don't realise how shallow they are.

Talk about living your life through your child.

thumbwitch · 31/07/2008 23:18

agh, just seen one of the Americans on the tv they are watching - she looks so bizarre, like a small child-woman

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 31/07/2008 23:19

well its really upsetting what the little girl says at the end, but i wont mention it because i dont think you are upto that bit yet

do you know the mother actually wants her to be a page three girl? that her highest hopes for her own daughter

EyeballsintheSky · 31/07/2008 23:19

Ugh, was that last one Sarah Ferguson or what? Very strange stuff...

theSuburbanDryad · 31/07/2008 23:21

She's rubbish at cheerleading as well. She's going to get laughed at in the US - they take cheerleading so very seriously over there!

thumbwitch · 31/07/2008 23:24

they've got BOYS doing it as well????!!!!

Sidge · 31/07/2008 23:25

And another thing I find sad is that she's not even especially pretty, she's just a normal looking kid. Her mum is deluding herself as well as misleading her family.

Tidgypuds · 31/07/2008 23:26

Was that bonnie langford in the blue dress.

theSuburbanDryad · 31/07/2008 23:26

That poor, poor little boy...

theSuburbanDryad · 31/07/2008 23:28

Actually - that cheer routine was really, really good. The music was blardy awful though!!

thumbwitch · 31/07/2008 23:28

tidgy, that's what I thought too! mind, did you see her mum - looks more like her gran

WendyWeber · 31/07/2008 23:28

Oh, I saw this a couple of days ago - I think it's all down to the mother feeling that she missed out herself, having not started until she was 24 or whatever

Sasha seems like quite a nice kid actually, & there were lots of times she just looked so hacked off with the whole thing, I wish the parents would leave her alone (& her brother)

PenelopePitstops · 31/07/2008 23:33

oh god her mother is just nasty, she cant even hide how unhppy she is

Tidgypuds · 31/07/2008 23:35

I know thumbwitch, Mind you she did actually look better than I thought she was going when she had her hair over her face.

thumbwitch · 31/07/2008 23:35

you're right it is a sad comment - she doesn't even know why she want;s to be on tv, just because her mum has told her it's a good thing probably. Tragic.

theSuburbanDryad · 31/07/2008 23:36

Just seen the bit you mean SheSells.

How hard would it be for one of her parents to say, "I'm really, really proud of my children. They've worked really hard and I'm very impressed."

If I had a daughter who could dance like that I'd be so proud of her! (Obviously I'll be proud of my children whatever, but that routine was actually really good!)

Sidge · 31/07/2008 23:39

What a sad programme

How vapid to encourage your children to strive for such shallow goals. I would much rather my daughters be applauded for what they achieve and how they enrich the lives of others, not for how they look.

The mum loved sashes didn't she, like that is the best achievement ever - to get a sash because you can wear it "and stuff."

Is that why her daughter was called Sasha?

I hate when the parents go on about it all being down to the (always rather bored looking) kid but then talk about how "we" are doing this and "we" are doing that. Which would indicate that it is more to do with the parent's failed ambitions than anything the child would want to do. Who would want to buy a calendar of a wee girl all tarted up? And I have to say congratulations to the model agency person who said that they prefer their children to look like children!

I thought it funny that the son did nothing and won his what-do-you-call-it in the competition.

When I was 11 I was still climbing trees and running wild - make-up and the such was a long way off.

clarebear1 · 07/08/2008 22:04

I got soooooo angry with this programme! well sashas mum actually ahhhhhhhhhhh makes me mad just thinking about it!
