New Face, New Life?

9:00pm - 10:00pm

BBC1 London & South East

VIDEO Plus+: 5935
Subtitled, Widescreen

It's at times like this that the search for those must-have trainers or designer bag seems so empty. New Face, New Life? considers three cases of children born with facial disfigurement: 19-year-old Hayley and nine-month-old Honey have Apert's syndrome (which also affects feet and hands), while four-year-old Julian has the more operable Crouzon's disease. In all cases, though, bone growth is restricted and subsequent facial growth distorted. In this society, where appearance seems to be everything, these stories are heartbreaking. This is a sobering programme to watch, but we owe it to these people to show that they're accepted, be it on screen or in the high street.
