I'm thinking I might need to have my ears syringed.

Anyone else had it done? What's it like?

They tend not to use ear syringing anymore but use a specialised vacuum which is far more pleasant.

Unsure why this is in Telly section unless it's because yuu can't hear the TV

Disappointed as i thought there was a new telly programme about ear syringing experiences along the same lines of Dr Pimple Popper 🤣

Why is this the the Telly Addicts section?

I’ve had one ear syringed due to hard wax. It was a good experience and brought me much relief from a blocked ear. I paid privately to have it done.

Microsuction is recommended now as it is safer and more effective. The NHS rarely fund anymore so you’ll probably have to pay.

I have microsuction about once a year as I get a lot of wax in one ear which affects my hearing. It is quick and painless, just a bit noisy. You will need to use olive oil ear drops for 5-7 days beforehand though to soften the wax.

Had it done once. Proper old style syringing blocked ear that could not hear out of . The relief was immense. I also got to watch dd get both of hers done and she was done with a machine not suction but with water also . She got such relief from it too never needed it done again

I had it done years ago after wax build up following an ear infection I always hoped id get it again because it was lovely. I could honestly hear my hair swishing around.

I do this as part of my job. It’s called irrigation now, syringing doesn’t exist.

HoraceCope · 17/10/2026 06:36

microsuction is brilliant if peculiar

I have never found it painful, but I imagine it would be if you had a middle ear infection. My ears don’t really get clogged up though. I used to syringe my kids ears when they were small and prone to gummy ears. (Again, only if they were well and not in pain.) It’s very satisfying.

Microsuction a couple of times. If it looks infected the high street ones won’t touch it until you have been to a gp.
