My eldest daughter is about to turn 23, so she was just the right age for the original Balamory. I heard tell yesterday that there's a reboot.
When I got in from work, I tried to raise some nostalgia in my youngest child but at 13, he's too young to remember it so wasn't keen to watch it with me (fair enough). DS1 would remember it but he's away at uni.
This is how I found myself watching the new Balamory yesterday evening, alone. The nostalgia! I was genuinely quite upset to see Penny Pocket running the shop alone, the actress who played Suzie Sweet having died in 2013. There are a few replacement characters but Miss Hoolie and PC Plum are the same as ever. I felt a bit sad for Miss Hoolie that she never had kids of her own, given her career but then realised that she is, in fact, a fictional character.
Anyway, I hope kids love it. I would say as much as my elder two did but neither of them were over keen tbh - they preferred The Shiny Show and Storymakers.
