SNL UK- The worst 'comedy' show ever?!

I'm flabbergasted at how deeply unfunny it is.

The writing is absolutely dog shite.
I knew the US version was pony but this is literally mouth open agog visual effluent.

It reminds me a bit of shows I watched begrudgingly on children's telly in the late 80s.

Does anyone think it's funny? Or has any redeeming features? Should it be cancelled?

I think it's probably funnier if you're writing and acting it. Like drama lessons when you're in yr 9 and your teacher has a fixed grin on her face.

I only saw a clip of it on Sunday Brunch this morning but it looked spectacularly bad, but to be fair I had assumed it would, I’ve never felt American comedy translates well to the UK (with a few exceptions of course!) but generally they have a loud, aggressive, state the obvious type of comedy whereas we prefer something a bit more understated and subtle.

Thank you, glad I'm not the only one!

It really feels embarrassingly bad. I wonder how long it'll last?

I find some of it funny, usually the topical stuff. Some of the other sketches do feel like some sixth formers having a crack at it albeit with better props. On the whole I like the show though.

The adverts for it are embarrassingly unfunny so I’ve never been tempted to watch .

sweetpickle2 · 13/10/2026 12:24

I think its hilarious! It's a very silly, very British style of humour. I think it's much much funnier than the US one.

The pork sketch makes me cry laughing

Not everything is for everyone.

I love topical comedy stuff but I cant get into this at all, I wondered if I was just too 'old' and didnt get it (im early 40's!) But reading others comments maybe its just not very good!

LittleRooFoo · 13/10/2026 12:29

I’m in my early 30s and love it, so do most of my friendship group. Danny Dyer last week as host was great. My cousins (early 20s) are also big fans.

JellyMouldJnr · 13/10/2026 12:32

I love it! I think not every sketch works but it is different and full of energy. And not another panel show!

TenderChicken · 13/10/2026 12:33

I'm really enjoying it!

I'm an American who has never been a big fan of the show here. It's been on air for decades, so there have been times when the cast was brilliant and other times when the show struggled.

That British pork skit was really funny, but I may be appreciating the humor because I've been on MN for so long.

Boopsi · 13/10/2026 12:53

Like most sketch shows, some of it hits the mark and is funny, some not so much. And it is a matter of taste surely? I think Mrs Brown’s Boys is unspeakably shite, but many find it hilarious.

Imupforthat · 13/10/2026 13:20

Horses for courses. We absolutely love it (and the American version) but can’t be doing with a lot of other UK sitcoms or comedy shows.

I'm glad I sat through to the end. I almost gave up half way through not appreciating that there was actually a 'punchline'.

There was a very funny sketch featuring Harry and Meghan returning to the UK, short of money and turning up at Balmoral! Really made me laugh 😂
