sons and daughters
love and laughter

mckenzie · 30/06/2008 21:46

my brother in law, a football and cricket playing, beer drinking Northern man's man used to come home from work early just so he could watch it!

MumRum · 30/06/2008 21:47

oh yeah... loved the theme tune

Sons and Daughters
Love and laughter
Tears of sadness and happiness
We will find out our sons and daughters
Are what, we too, were once about.....

I used to rush home just to watch it. wasn't there a brother and sister who were twins but didn't know and got together?

I loved it, knew if was naff but didn't care.

Wasn't there also an older lady who was a family friend and had been a prostitute?

wheresthehamster · 30/06/2008 22:25

Never missed an episode. Recorded them all as I was at work and raced home to watch them. Also bought the books.

surreygirl · 30/06/2008 22:31

Loved watching this as a 16 year old when I was watching at home when I supposedly studying for my O levels.

We are huge fans of Philip Quast who played Mitch in sons&daughters many years ago approx 1984

He is now a Triple Olivier Award winner in London's West End

see photo number 213

Loved it .This and 'prisoner cell block h'.
I was about 8 at the time and watched these two and 'come dancing' with my Nana.

Twinklemegan · 30/06/2008 23:21

I didn't realise Philip Quast was in Sons and Daughters. I didn't watch that so much. The one I really liked was The Young Doctors - anyone remember that?

katpotat · 30/06/2008 23:37

Yeh...it used to be on at lunchtime, when we came home from school for lunch!
Oh I loved Cell Block H too!

ooh i loved it and the sullivans

stillovefoxes · 30/06/2008 23:51

I used to hate it, I can remember coming home from school and it was always blardy on, my mum was an addict!

streakybacon · 01/07/2008 06:59

The Young Doctors was fantastic. Anyone remember the pop star who wore white jumpsuits and had bleached white hair? He was hideous but all the nurses swooned over him.

Sons and Daughters fab too.

MumRum · 01/07/2008 07:28

noddy.. I loved the sullivans too...

goblinvalley · 01/07/2008 07:52

What about A Country Practice - i loved that but not as much as The Flying Doctors. I still have some episodes on tape, that i watch when i get a bit soppy

DiscoDizzy · 01/07/2008 07:54

my mum watched this, and young doctors. She thought it was great. I was a little too young.

RTKangaMummy · 01/07/2008 10:33

Twinklemegan

Here is some news about Philip Quast

These are his episodes with photos of him

He was Billy Webb in Country Practise as well

He was Dr Rod Hawkins in Young Doctors

themoon66 · 01/07/2008 10:44

I think I used to watch this when I was a nurse working nights. It used to be on when I got up at about 3.30pm.

What was the name of the pretty girl with the long black hair who fell in love with her brother, but she didn't know he was her brother? She rode horses on a lovely ranch.

jesuswhatnext · 01/07/2008 12:29

i used to work in a pub so afternoons were my viewing times - sons and daugthers and then turn over for a brazillian soap called 'dancin' days' was dreadful crap, badly dubbed and absolutly rivitting!!!

PuppyMonkey · 01/07/2008 12:37

Brilliant prog. Evil Patricia with her strange cats' eyes and silver hair - and that old hag who had the twins...?

lilyloo · 01/07/2008 12:39

Did this used to be on at luchtime when neighbours did ?

booge · 01/07/2008 12:42
