Blue Lights Series 4 - binge watch?

IwantToRetire · 30/09/2026 17:22

Just wondered if anyone else is watching new series of Blue Lights via iPlayer as a binge watch.

I am treating myself to 2 episodes a night.

So far, although I didn't get back into immediately, am getting quite intrigued. But as usual with me, because I dont always remember details about characters, have been a bit confused.

Blue Lights

For police officers in Belfast, the pressure is immense. Facing criminal gangs and divided communities, they don't know who to trust. Gritty, BAFTA-winning drama.

I can’t remember did the main woman and colleague stay together or break up on last episode?

IwantToRetire · 30/09/2026 17:25

Who do you think is the main woman character. Not being difficult, but I can never remember who anyone is?

I found this article which has a quick summary of some of the characters, but hasn't really helped. But might be of interest?

Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon, Nathan Braniff as Tommy Foster and Siân Brooke as Grace Ellis in Blue Lights, stood against a dark blue backdrop, looking dishevelled and wearing police uniforms.

The blonde bob!!

If you mean the one on the right of the picture(!) I can say from having watched they are still together. But cant remember their back story either.

Just seen the throwback episode with the late Gerry 😥 and Sandra. I'm not bawling, you are.

Maybe need to say how far into the series we are so anyone joining the thread can skip posts!

Commenting up to episode 4

So yes I have now seen the look back episode and was not as emotional as I thought I would be.

But did think what a waste that Sandra is now the Desk Officer or whatever.

Clearly should have been out of the streets. Can you imagine if she and Jerry had been partnered up, rather than him having to baby sit newbies!

But was totally outraged by the sabotaging of the court case. And so glad to to see the closing shot of the folder with all (I hope) names in it.

But there are only 2 more episodes Confused

But maybe this promises a further series?

You cant invoke the sacred name of Gerry and not do justice to his story line - and police work!

Have just seen that apparently they do not intend to have another Blue Lights series as this is seen as "the end of the chapter".

Apparently a condition of Richard Dormer agreeing to do an episode is that it had to include him playing the guitar.

I thought this was a binge watch thread 😩 because there's already a non spoiler one that @blondehavemorefun has running.

Yes I know, but given how recently the episodes have been released we wont all be able to binge at the same pace!

(On previous binge watches in the first days of so, have seen those contributing say, have got to episode #.)

I'm only had a slight hissy fit. Smile

Fair enough, I'll slow down do some actual housework which is what I was supposed to be doing.

Well as it seems only you and me maybe I am being a bit too concerned.

Last series on the binge watch people were joining at different points.

Well have now watched all 6 episodes.

Very disappointed in the ending.

I’m ashamed to say two episodes in I’m feeling a bit grumpy and “schooled”. I’m a leftie woke type but the fleeing one war zone to land in another made me roll my eyes.

Edited

I think the first episode was hopelessly contrived.

Not that I dont doubt Belfast police have had to deal with issues around situations like this, but in previous series this would have something they were sent to deal with, and then on to something completely different.

I did wonder if the writers of this series were different from earlier ones.

Ending was a bit of a damp squib. I'm going to rewatch series 1 to remember just how good it was

Keepingtimer · Yesterday 21:33

I've just finished it. It's absolute and total class. I do agree , the ending could have been a lot better though.
