Airport Chaplain on Netflix, anyone watching?

Found this after reading a very positive Guardian review. It's well acted and structured, so very watchable - but goodness, that chaplain has serious boundary issues. So unprofessional!

Isn't anyone higher up the ecumenical hierarchy supervising him?

He isn’t a member of the clergy.

I'm about half way through, does that become clear by the end?

Just watched the episode where his boss says he has no boundaries and he argues that can be a good thing. I'm not convinced!

He says to the new boss something about it being a purely pastoral not religious role and at his Grandson Christening his daughter says he’s not a member of the clergy.

Thanks, I missed that line. He still needs some supervision though! There is no world where a middle aged man letting a young and apparently mentally fragile girl sleep in his room without anyone knowing about it is a good thing.

I started to watch it
DH was annoyed about the episode with the excess Baggage and full of what ifs
i shall continue to watch on my own

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/08/2026 20:14

i have now watched the whole thing
management were terrible
but on the whole i enjoyed it

Idlewilder · 01/09/2026 09:05

I have enjoyed it so far, now on episode 7 and more convinced than ever that management have allowed him far too much freedom and he is a complete liability, willing to be proved wrong in episode 8 though!

What are they doing wrong ?

Just getting deeply involved in the lives of random vulnerable passengers in a way that would be deeply suspect in real life!
