Buried with Michael Sheen - OMFG!

Is anybody watching this? It's an absolute horror story happening on our doorstep. Deadly toxic waste dumped/buried in the countryside of Wales and NW England - near to where people live - by the chemical giant Monsanto - and just left there. Barrels of this stuff left dumped in containers which are disintegrating and leaking into soil and waterways. Toxic powder dumped and blown all over residential roads. Puddles of orange toxic slime which young children paddled in because they didn't know what it was. Abnormally high rates of cancer in residents and pets who live nearby. And councils who make vague excuses that it's all 'safe' when actually probably they can't afford the millions of pounds required to clean it up and so they brush it under the carpet. Forever chemicals contaminating everything around them. Chemical waste spread onto farmland. It's an absolute scandal. How the fuck has this been allowed to happen? Well done to Michael Sheen for having the guts to bring this to people's attention - Monsanto are probably preparing their legal team right now. Evil, corporate greed. How the fuck do they sleep at night? How can this ever be put right? There's a farmer and his wife living adjacent to one of these dumping grounds and it has leached all over their land and the toxicity of the soil is 2000 x higher than what would be considered normal. Lives ruined. I can't believe what I'm watching. Either the government have been asleep at the wheel and didn't keep track of what was going on, or they knew full well all along and have just done nothing about it. Either is unforgiveable.

Unfortunately I suspect more sites will be discovered….there is 1 not far from me that was used as landfill in the 70’s, and there have been rumours locally for years about how the environment has been contaminated

Yes, it's really scary stuff. When this company first came to the UK to start manufacturing in the 70s there were no restrictions whatsoever on dumping toxic waste - so they dumped as much of it as they liked wherever they liked without any repercussions. And it's still there now.

Tbh, it's just going to come out UK manufacturers like ICI would of been doing as much like it's said no protections and with industry jobs like coal and others going manufacturers offering large job numbers would of been welcomed and ignore the bad stuff as that's someone else issue.

Monsanto is no more got consumed by another player , so will just be handled as legacy debt and platitudes etc by current owner.

That lake which just goes up due to chemicals at 45 million to fix, you have to ask where the muck goes when it's cleared up. We have a coalite site that has been turned into warehouses and you can still smell the chemical oddurs after the clean up of the site. They were going to put houses on, but the HS2 ruined that,which is a blessing as if it still pongs with a warehouse sets on it. What the heck is still in the ground one asks.
