what is this?

RTKangaMummy · 29/01/2005 17:43

How is she?

It isn't good news I dont think

It highlights staff shortages

inadequate levels of care

high number of CS

THANK YOU for flagging this up Kanga - goodness me, I identified with so much in that programme. Made me even more determined to make sure I don't get bullied, neglected and traumatised this time round.

Moomina · 29/01/2005 18:35

Have to put ds to bed now but will be back on here later. Really want to know what everyone thought.

Amanda3266 · 29/01/2005 18:43

Bugger - I missed it. Was it good?

franch · 29/01/2005 18:45

I thought so Amanda. Echoed a lot of my thoughts and experiences. There's a bit of a summary here.

It makes depressing viewing and there is no DoH short term solution. I can't see why would things change,... and I agreed with who ever said "it's the best midwives that are leaving"

Amanda3266 · 29/01/2005 19:00

Thanks for the link. Depressing reading though and made me quite angry too.

I left midwifery because I could no longer stand the increasingly medical approach. I knew I was finished the day a woman was "told off" in theatre for reaching down to touch her just delivered baby (from a ventouse delivery) and accidently touching the green drapes. I knew then that we'd lost the plot.

One of my friends left hospital midwifery because she was not allowed to spend any time with the mums reassuring them and talking to them.

She is a very caring and kind person but was not allowed to be in Maternity ward
