Last night was awful!

I agree. Who the hell would think that Alice saying yes to everything would be an interesting and funny idea? Is the writer a five year old?

Tracey Ullman is too good for this shite.

NCTDN · 17/09/2026 21:32

The best bit was Beard reading Charlotte’s Web!

Why do new year now???

There are only 10-12 episodes to show a whole football season that goes August-May so it makes sense to me. It'll be done airing well before Christmas.

I quite liked the bit where Rebecca, Zelda and Lesley pretended to be the on hold music.

SummerNocturnal · 18/09/2026 06:05

We all still hatewatching!?!
What is it now? 3 to go!
We have Keeley + Roy to get back together.
The team to do well enough to secure sponsorship/play another day.
Beard to get a new partner who thinks he isn't decrepit.
Ted to have a date with theatre girl once her current beau doesn't pan out.
Shannon to remain on team/assist score or score herself (can't even remember her position tbh)
Cameo from Nate
Rebecca to...hers is the weirdest trajectory tbf. With no more Rupert as a nemesis and a pilot who's kind of on again, her character arc has stagnated to bf with her employee and drinking.
And Tracey Ullman is awful to watch in this.

fiveminutestochill · 18/09/2026 06:34

I'd put money on theatre managers new beau being Beard- both on the apps, he came in different this week.

I don't know, I'm not hatewatching, I'm enjoying it really but yes the team as a side plot annoys me and it's not doing women's football any favours. The agent was just weird in this episode. Ted filling out his dating profile with Keeley just made me realise I'd think he was a twat if I knew him in real life.

OrdinaryGingerBloke · 18/09/2026 06:43

I’m still watching, but I prioritised slow horses and only remembered Ted was on when I opened the app for that tbh.

It’s very ‘light’. Light on depth, light on meaning, light on character development. It’s becoming wallpaper tv for when you do something else. Which is such a shame.

Yes, baaaad again! It's just such trite nonsense now.

NCTDN · 18/09/2026 08:01

The thing is, I’ve thought they’ve been ok till the last one, apart from Tracey Ullman. I think Keeley looks dreadful though.

Sparrowsandbudgies · 18/09/2026 08:15

cloudtreecarpet · 14/09/2026 07:05

And please just make Tracey Ullman stop! What an irritating, cliché her character is!

I’m actually switching off because of her. So awful.

SeditiousPam · 18/09/2026 08:17

Roy had so much better chemistry with the doctor; they actually seemed like a real couple. The story with Keeley makes no sense at all; they’re like people from different planets.

OP posts:
RunningJo · 18/09/2026 09:06

Wednesdays episode felt pretty poitnless. Weak storyline, which I assume was the dating app?
The Tracey Ulman character is just plain stupid, the phone call scene with the animated US accent was cringe.

The obvious answer would be to not watch anymore but I can’t, I’m still hoping it turns around, even at this late stage

See, I didn't buy Roy and the doctor for one second. They were people from different universes. Neither would have contemplated going on a single date with the other. I 'got' Roy and Keeley the way they were written in previous series, but you couldn't really describe either of them as a character now because we don't really see them do anything apart from sniff around one another.

I actually thought this week's episode was better than most of them this series, though admittedly that's from a very low baseline. At least there was some attempt to characterise some of the women's team, though it will tell you how long it's been since we saw anything of Shannon that DH didn't recognise her when we saw her delivering food at the start.

fiveminutestochill · 18/09/2026 11:42

I think Tracey Ullman is slowly but surely ingratiating herself to do a sly takeover or something, or have some sort of revenge in mind. I don't know, there has to be something more to her character than just rich person who drinks.

I agree - being the nemesis in place of Rupert.

Speaking of Rupert, I'm surprised there hasn't been any mention of him at all, and no 'in memory of...' at the end of an episode yet.

I'm 99% sure you're correct on theatre manager and there isn't time to wrap that up as a storyline really so I can see it being left with Ted pining.

As for Tracey Ullman, she's probably going to do something which means Rebecca gives up her majority, even by a couple of percent, to buy the club on the cheap. But if this is a 3 season arc that will be the cliffhanger last scene of the season.

OnlyUsername · 18/09/2026 14:24

They had said Jamie wasn't in this season but he was, so I suspect that either there will be a cameo this season and then a memoriam card or Rupert will die next season and they will do it then. Filming wrapped before/around the time he passed away.

fiveminutestochill · 18/09/2026 16:44

@OnlyUsernameagreed - but I'm trying to work out why. Why does she want to destroy Rebecca? I think the Delia Smith moment was planned so the shareholders start to lose trust.

ETA - and that's true re Jamie, they also said Trent and Dr Sharon weren't in it and they made a cameo so you're probably right.

Didn't realise it's a 3 season arc though.

OnlyUsername · 18/09/2026 16:52

I'm really not sure - she works for a big sports investor but she is mainly focused on womens' sports teams, so I don't know why she would be so keen to buy Richmond as a whole. It does feel like there must be something personal in it but it didn't seem to me like she and Rebecca knew each other well at all!

Whether he will get more seasons I don't know. We only subscribe for Ted and Silo so I suspect he will.

MyOtherProfile · 18/09/2026 19:18

Surely not a 3 season arc! This is quite enough.

I suspect it's more popular in the US though, with lots of people loving cute little England snapshots.

DensityOfAWatermelon · 20/09/2026 08:34

It's like whoever is in charge this season has never watched it before, never seen any women's football and never actually met a woman.

Using the Star Trek Away team rules - Tracy Ullman has been wasted so far, so I assume she's being set up for more. Same for Charlotte Riley. Although I would have said that for Laura Haddock too...

It’s more disturbing to me that it’s as though the writers have before never watched a TV series, far less written one!

fundamentallyauthentic · 20/09/2026 09:21

I’m not up for watching anymore of this after this series ends as much as I like Charlotte Riley, whose character I agree will likely start dating Ted. The monthly subscription will probably be at least £15 in a couple of years - no, I won’t bother. I would like Jason Sudekis to do different roles as he’s a really talented actor but maybe he feels comfortable playing Ted.

Wonderknicks · 20/09/2026 11:58

I switched off halfway through the latest episode & I'm a BIG Ted Lasso fan.
