How have I only just watched this?? I watched first film last night. I loved it! Why did I think it was gladiatorial type thing with Russel Crowe? Can’t believe I have missed out on it all these years 🙈 I can’t be the only one who has avoided something really good for a misconception and then found it? I did the same with Gavin and Stacey. Nearly did it with Ann Droid - avoided it until I read a thread on here. What is wrong with me 🤣

I originally dismissed Schitts Creek as “not my cup of tea” 😩

Now one of my favourite ever shows 😀

I am reading the HG books at the moment, decided to read them first before watching the films, but looking forward to seeing them.

Ooh I want to read the books too - but decided now that I have watched the first film I will watch them all and then read the books. Don’t know why I dismissed it for so long!

I avoided Derry Girls as I'm a teacher and don't usually like school-based stuff.

I love love love it.

The movies are amazing and the books even better!

IAmKerplunk · 03/08/2026 19:14

Oh god now I want to read the books asap! But I normally hate tv shows/films after I have read the books. Shall I start them anyway?

The books are even better.

Also much missed is the author’s Gregor series of books which I (and my DC’s) think are brilliant- though very different to the HG’s but have a common theme in a young “unremarkable” person changing society.
