Anyone else watching? I started it because I saw a Guardian review that described it as the most feminist show on TV...

I'm enjoying it so far - although slightly distracted by the serial killer because I associate her so strongly with the IRA character she played in a different show 🤔

Excellent season finale! I really recommend this series to anyone looking for a decent new tv show with outstanding cast.

Sturmundcalm · 31/08/2026 15:52

i saved eps 6 and 7 for yesterday so that i got the build up to today's finale.

i did really enjoy it but ep 6 was a standout (inc the reveal that i hadn't expected in terms of Danny looking at what was on the USB), so 7 and 8 felt ever so slightly like a let down.

given the very final reveal, i do wonder whether it will be a straight FBI/cop show or something very different in terms of Alice's role!

Have watched the final episode . I think it was good , although not unexpected in what happened . I assume we can post spoilers as last episode has now aired - but I will try to be a bit vague .
But some spoilers for last episode -

Interesting points -

  1. what was the role of Jay Easton’s daughter ? Was she truly a victim or was she complicit . Is she similar to Ghislaine Maxwell - she “ assisted “ in the abuse / turned a blind eye to/ tried to / did she destroy evidence ? Not sure if there was any relevance in the bags of salt ?She tried to minimise the abuse - teenagers rather than children .
  2. Role of the senior FBI head - Ed in the cover up - did he cover his back / gain from the friendship with Easton? Will he get caught ?
  3. Alice - her actings with Jay Easton at the end . Will this impact her in the future ?
  4. Alice / Catherine - they seem to have a connection / link . Will this feature in the future ?
  5. Nora - love her character . She is so cynical . Could she have been a bit more understanding to Alice or was she truly trying to make her become tough / a better agent ?
  6. Role of Catherine in Isabel’s death . Got a bit confused - did she give her drugs to ease her suffering ? Was Isabel dying at this point - could she have been saved ?
Generally I am interested how Alice moves forward and how all this and her troubled past shape her as an agent .

If Catherine continues to feature would be great to see more of her new husband. As someone else said , the arrest scenes between Choi and Alden were very good .

Just saw the series gets a 98 per cent/ 5 star review on rotten tomatoes .

I finished this yesterday too. Absolutely loved it. Great casting.

I was/am really enjoying this but the getting smacked around and liking it element is bothering me.

Me too. Really distasteful. Kind of like trying to normalise choking etc during sex. Really hate all that sort of stuff, and this is similar. Almost stopped watching because of it.

I felt that too. I wondered if they were aiming at showing it being a trauma response (of Alice) due to this happening in the past. But the fact that Nora condoned it and they laughed about it together ruined that.

Yes, it was Nora’s reaction that made it really distasteful. I guess she might’ve been trying to make Alice feel more at ease to talk about it. Or it was a comment on how damaged people can sometimes use trauma to ease past trauma. Or something. I suspect this is unfortunately true in some people. However, I’d rather they kept that completely out of an entertainment show unless they’re really going to do a deep dive and explore it properly.

Yes that whole scene with Nora was incredibly weird and needed to be cut out I think. So strange and as a victim of domestic abuse myself I just felt so cringed out by it.

We binge watched it over the weekend. It was excellent and so refreshing to see so many strong female characters in it.

Lottapianos · 02/09/2026 08:41

'Or it was a comment on how damaged people can sometimes use trauma to ease past trauma. Or something'

To me, that was the message of the whole series - male violence corrupts and damages everything and everyone that it comes into contact with. I don't think Alice seeking out 'rough sex' was framed as anything other than unhealthy and concerning, and yes, a trauma response. Nora was another extremely damaged character, using alcohol to cope with the horrors she had to face every day at work, and the misery of never seeing any meaningful change

I thought it was a great series. Very good and intriguing ending

Teffe · 02/09/2026 12:05

Found it challenging in parts but overall thought it was excellent. Even the scene with the fbi and NYpd bosses sniping at each other - hilarious. Amazing cast.

apparently the actor playing Alden (chap in wheelchair) is a stand up comedian and the part was written specifically for him. Choi trying to arrest him …hilarious.

Yes, I’d agree with this. It was very unsettling, though; the moment in the car between Nora and Alice.

Loved the series. Not sure how it will progress. I’d hate for it to become just another police procedural.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 04/09/2026 00:06

And yes, loved Alden.

I think it had been mentioned that Isabel would have died anyway. Was she having a hemorrhage after the birth? I'm not too sure. Also wouldn't they have done a post mortem and found that Jay Easton had been asphyxiated. I know he was ill but would they still do a PM? I also had my suspicions that Catherine was responsible for Isobel's death. I kind of wanted her to get away and not go to prison. Also the shower scene at the end where Danny was sitting outside the bathroom. I understand she was traumatised because Marshall would drag her out of the shower but at the same time she was able to be in his company when she to his home and was able to stage a sexual encounter to get him drunk. Perhaps I'm ignorant of trauma but it didn't ring true. I generally enjoyed the series but I felt the ending was a little weak all in all.

leavesinthebreeze · 05/09/2026 13:36

Finished it this morning - bloody loved it! My only slight criticism is I wish they hadn’t introduced the romance between Danny and Alice, it’s not always needed in these shows and would have been really good to see just a strong platonic friendship between them.

2026onwardsandup · 05/09/2026 15:25

@Crinkle77 I don’t think they would have done a post mortem . As Jay Easton was terminally ill , so an expected death . Also not known at the time his connection with Alice .

@leavesinthebreeze, agree re Danny and Alice . Think they are both strong and complex characters . So no need to introduce a romance between them . It just unnecessarily complicates things . Wouldn’t be gutted if the next series starts and they have agreed to be friends only . Alice is so badly damaged and has already had such a dysfunctional relationship with her ex that the last thing she needs is a relationship!

Violetparis · 05/09/2026 15:42

I gave up after 2 episodes, the unrealistic, try hard dialogue irritated me and I didn't like any of the characters apart from Alice's male cop friend. Appreciate I am in a minority though !

Yes I was annoyed they made the relationship romantic. Would have been nice to have a strong platonic male / female relationship in it.

Yes I would like them to realise that they love each other deeply but not romantically.

Agree re Alden - fabulous and hilarious in the arrest scenes
