What’s wrong with Letitia Dean’s voice?
Eastenders is on in the background and I heard this deep growly voice. Sharon didn’t always sound like that, did she? Does she have a vocal problem?

Could it be ageing or post menopause changes? Our voices change as we get older.

I know, but this is a dramatic change. Have you heard her?

Yes watching Eastenders now 😁. Yes it does seem deeper.

I don’t know in this case , but sometimes people with thyroid problems, it can change the pitch and tone of a voice.
I watch EE and hadn’t noticed her voice being any different . She isn’t in it that much at the moment.

Ageing, and being a smoker in the past - I think she's stopped now.

Sam Fox is the same. Her voice is gruff and coarse now. Used to be quite soft and light. She was a heavy smoker too, and has had surgery on her throat too (on a vocal cord.)

Voices change a lot over the years. Old age can make them weaker, if someone smokes, any kind of throat operations. They are weird things when you think about it! How different we all sound and accents are fascinating too.

I would expect an actor and singer to be taking care of their voice which makes me wonder if something is going on eg nodules etc.
