Naga Munchetty is leaving the BBC after 17 years.
Thank goodness ..can't stand the woman ..she's so rude

She does come across rude - hopefully won’t be expecting a big farewell after how she was to the weather woman when she left. I also caught the clip where she was unnecessarily blunt to the new reporter doing the ice cream piece and the other reporter told her off.

However, she is sharp and a good interviewer. Maybe 5 live (think that’s where she’s going) will suit her more.

the80sweregreat · 28/07/2026 20:00

I wish her well with the new job, but she was very abrasive at times and it was obvious she wasn’t happy for ages.

JesseDavisGonnaHangOnInThereNSoul · 28/07/2026 20:04

Nippy sweetie.

Copyalex · 28/07/2026 20:35

I agree OP. There was no warmth about her either.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/07/2026 20:36

Can’t say I’ll miss her. She is rude and there were some bullying allegations….

12234m · 28/07/2026 20:37

All her apparent niceness sounded so fake. I listen to radio 5. Don't like one of the ones now, hoping that Naga isn't worse.

I agree about being a good interviewer. Would not have stood for the industrial lies of Boris Johnson and I bet Nigel Farage would make any excuse not to be interviewed by her.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 28/07/2026 20:40

I'm sure she'll enjoy not getting up ridiculously early for Breakfast

Edit - I see she's doing Breakfast stint on 5 live!

EchoedSilence · 28/07/2026 20:42

I was never a fan. Although the way Charlie Stayt looked at her sometimes made me laugh.

Maddy70 · 28/07/2026 20:43

I love her. She doesn't suffer fools

Terrribletwos · 28/07/2026 20:43

She's on 5 live radio.

CaptBirdsEar · 28/07/2026 21:09

Hurrah she’s leaving, I can now watch it without her arrogance.

CrushingOnRubies · 29/07/2026 10:35

I’m going to miss the exchanges between Naga and Matt Tebut at 9:30 on Saturday Mornings when they advertise Saturday kitchen

whippersnapper55 · 29/07/2026 10:40

I like Naga - yes she's spiky and occasionally I've thought a bit rude. But she's a good counterpoint to the sickly sweet presenters and quite honestly, I prefer it! There's plenty of male presenters who can be brusque, robust etc and they seem to get far less stick for it!

JoshLymanSwagger · 29/07/2026 11:17

At last!

Was she rude to Carol Kirkwood? I must’ve missed that!

NextVault · 29/07/2026 16:52

Naga is a thorough and accurate interviewer, digs when needed. Great professional.

70Cats · 29/07/2026 18:03

She is difficult for people with hearing difficulties, talks through her nose like so many people on television.

Overtheatlantic · 29/07/2026 18:16

I liked her, but then I’m fairly rude myself 🤷‍♀️

HoraceCope · 29/07/2026 18:18

i never watch tv early morning news and never rate it as being serious

pestowithwalnuts · 29/07/2026 21:25

I remember a few years ago she came on wearing a top with eyes all over it...fucking awful.

I think she just didn't join in with the gush fest.

Tbf gush fests when some one is leaving can be a bit tedious. I’ve signed the card, put in a fiver for a gift, went to the leaving drinks / meal. What more do you want?

and where I work you have to sit in a boiling hot all for an hour on the hottest day of the year. Whilst all the leavers give speeches and their line managers also give speeches about their time at the company.

RichPetuniaAgain · 31/07/2026 12:18

I really rate Naga Munchetty. She's a great interviewer.
I'll be listening.

Edited

I suspect the BBC newsroom has air con, nonetheless, it was just as tedious. It would have been ok to say goodbye and wish her well. Her mates could have done the warm tributes at the wine bar later.
