I've been watching since I discovered the re-run at episode three. I was scrolling aimlessly one evening and heard that iconic theme song. I loved this programme first time around and was sad when no more series were commissioned. I desperately wanted to know what happened to them all after that shocking finale. The cast was uniformly excellent and the scripts engrossing.I suppose the viewing figures disappointed whoever was in charge but when you see some of the dreck that passes for entertainment these days, it's such a pity.

I was also a bit irked when I realised the series 2 cliffhangers wouldn't be resolved. But when the show was cancelled the screenwriter wrote a book tying up all the storylines, so I was able to have a quick read on reddit and see what happened to all the characters.

I don't know how to edit a thread title, but have just discovered it's also available on Channel 4/Freeview!

I will watch it later when dh goes to bed

I was gutted when they cancelled it with no resolution!

I read the three books written by Simon Block who scripted the series; Keep the Home Fires Burning, A Woman's War and A Woman's Courage. I got the first on Kindle because I wanted to know what happened to them all after the cliff-hanger at the end of series two. I enjoyed it enough to buy the others. Apparently Channel Four decided not to commission further series despite good viewing figures because it wanted to "refresh its drama output." More chasing after younger viewers I suspect and annoying the hell out of the people who actually do watch the box. I wonder how successful they feel their "refreshment" turned out to be.

I haven't seen this so I am going to download it onto my iPad from Sky Go for when we are away in the caravan next week with only limited terrestrial telly full of football which no doubt DH will watch. I shall watch it even though I know it doesn't end but I can get the Kindle book so may do that.
