Is anyone watching Scamanda on BBC?

It's so shocking the lengths some people will go to.

It’s an astonishing story @Italiangreyhound & there is also a superb podcast that covers it (If you’re a podcast person, that is!). It’s definitely on Apple Podcasts but probably elsewhere too.

Yes, I watched the first two episodes yesterday and looking forward to seeing the rest. Absolutely shocking behaviour.

soonami · 17/06/2026 22:17

I watched it last year on Disney+. Very much enjoyed it.

DoYouWantHalfThisSandwich · 17/06/2026 22:24

Ah, @soonami I knew I’d seen it before! I just couldn’t place where, so thank you 🙏 I’ve now got the feeling I also watched the first couple of episodes. Shows about scammers are becoming my new ‘true crime/police’ shows 😳 Then lose track of what I’ve seen!

catspyjamas1 · 17/06/2026 22:56

It's very good. Highly recommend the podcast which is excellent!

mrswhiplington · 18/06/2026 11:09

It's shocking. Everyone seemed totally obsessed with her. I don't understand why people would read a blow by blow account of her "treatment" on her blog. It seems ghoulish. People donating massive amounts of money to her. Did they never question why she always looked well?

IAmKerplunk · 18/06/2026 11:27

Yes I watched it. Wtf goes on in the mind of these people? I think the husband must have known. Was the motivation just money? Attention? She never looked ill. Nobody wants to query a supposedly ill person though do they?

They are my new genre to watch too so if you have any recommendations 🙏🏼

If you’ve got Netflix @IAmKerplunk check out Apple Cider Vinegar - absolute binge worthy series! It’s about an Australian woman who also scams her family, friends & her online community/followers. So eye opening about the lengths people will go to when cornered.

Watched 1st episode, very good. Can't remember her name but thank God her ex friend got the ball rolling in uncovering her deceit

I don't know if there's more than one podcast but the one that came out a few years ago, I think it might also be called Scamanda is very good

Italiangreyhound · Yesterday 01:21

The English woman said that she spoke to her in prison. Amanda said she waa ill and that woman said she didn't know if it was true!! Not sure if she was being ironic!

Yeah, that's the one! Same podcaster appeared in the doc.
