The drones will go on to big things. The farmers will make one album of hits and fade away over time I bet.
A bit like the Fisherman friends group did.
Or just be local gigs and the odd barn dance. Do people still go to them?

Imdunfer · 30/05/2026 21:57

I've seen better drone shows a dozen times on TV, they are replacing fireworks in a lot of places. Even wedding venues are swapping to drone shows. I didn't think it was either particularly clever or particularly entertaining.

At least a choir has never won before.

the80sweregreat · 30/05/2026 21:58

Drones will be delivering all our goods soon as well as entertaining us!

the80sweregreat · 30/05/2026 21:59

I did like the choir though ! I hope they carry on as they can sing well together. It made a change from a solo singer or magician.

The drones company Celestial are already a commercial outfit, competing in a market that's already got the big hitters who do the Olympics and the National New Years shows and a raft of smaller providers already doing weddings, Eid, other celebrations, Bonfire night and New Year.

I'm pretty baffled what was supposed to be special about it.

The King is a gentleman farmer ( Duchy of Cornwall and Lancaster , I think he’ll like a song by them !)

True @the80sweregreat

Did I spot Jeremy Clarkston with some of the choir's friends ?

someone on a thread this morning said one of her relatives is in the choir, so she will be pleased they won.
( it was a thread on ' what are you up to today ' btw )

Thank you @Blondeshavemorefun for the thread/s.

I will see some/most/all of you next year...

Whataflippincircus · 30/05/2026 22:52

I wanted the choir to win, so I’m happy.

Not those drones.
Those drones will all be handing in their resignations to Amazon on Monday.
"I'm not delivering any more parcels Doreen. I'm moving into Showbiz".

It doesn’t really matter whether they go on to produce records or not. For them it’s about singing together for the camaraderie and their mental health. I know one of the farmers and it has helped enormously with his mental wellbeing.

Is that The Fisherman friends group from Cornwall who are doing national tours and had a film made about them? Hardly faded away.

They paid tribute to Clarkson, they said he had helped them enormously. He was crying when they won.

Most farmers love Clarkson, he's done more than anyone ever has before to show the hard reality of farming.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · Yesterday 09:56

Fisherman's Friends are still very popular, 2 films about them.
I saw them live at the Minack Theatre - which is an open air place in ( almost ) deepest Cornwall.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · Yesterday 09:58

@Imdunfer

aw I missed them playing tribute to him / missed him crying. Just thought I recognised him out of the corner of my eye.

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 11:15

I didn’t know the Fisherman’s friends were still going
apologies. I have only seen one of the films.
I am glad the farmers won though. I liked a few of the acts , the hands and the drones, but can only be one winner. It won’t please everyone I guess.

Sorry but I cannot for life of me understand why a pre-recorded light show can even be entered into a live competition where the winner performs at the Royal Variety Performance.

There's a place in life for this drone show thing but talent shows where the rest of the competition perform live are not it. The drone people can edit mistakes out of their performance for Christ's sake!! Bit of an unfair advantage over the live acts!!

Sorry but no, they shouldn't have been allowed to even enter let alone have the chance of winning. What nonsense and another reason BGT has well and truly had its day.

The winners were very worthy. Actual British human beings performing live. They're even donating much of the prize money.

“Hawkstone” is Clarkson’s brand. He sells Hawkstone beer amongst other things.

Most of the Cotswolds voted for the farmers I suppose

I have thought about this & given there are 34ish members in this choir, they were already disproportionately ahead with the voting (in relation to the number of friends/family/contacts) weren’t they?

Piggywaspushed · Yesterday 14:33

Clarkson set the choir up.

I just realised the choir leader is the leader of a local choir that I went to once. She's potty! In a good way, I guess. She certainly wasn't getting that sound out of that choir and there were zero men.
