Are cartoons and algorithm-driven content making children too reliant on screens?

I am pretty sure we are all guilty of giving a device to our dear little ones to get some peace. This probably causes distress to the child and parent in the end as it can be a fight to regain control. But do we really know what our kids are watching. The algorithms are so powerful today, if you child so much as sniffs in the direction of AI slop or high contrast addictive laughing cows with 5 legs then your child will get more of it....

Today's content can be very trashy.... is it really safe, even if we see them watching cartoons and where does it end up??

You should know what they are watching.
Only let them watch age appropriate shows (like Cbeebies ones).
Using a screen is fine if you basically use it like a TV.
Half an hour of actual TV programmes is fine.
Half an hour of random clips is where people go wrong.
