Dh and I watched this last night,it's hilarious 😂

Phil looks like Renton from Trainspotting and Kirsty is so different and hasn't adopted her 'only wears a dress' style yet.

Their voices are so different, really changed over the years.

Also ,£100k for a flat next to Liverpool St Station??!! 😱😂

Yes loved rewatching the old ones

not the ones that are like 1-2 years old

notasadvertised · 20/03/2026 20:48

Well that's just added more crap to my must rewatch list!

hyggetyggedotorg · 20/03/2026 20:55

I watched the Lizzie Bardsley wife swap episode recently. Hilarious that the “lah de da well to do” couple had a combined income of £30k a year.

I think I’d find the old LLL episodes depressing TBH. The 3 bed house we bought 27 years ago was £50k & easily affordable on two reasonably low wages. The same house now costs around £350k & my adult DC wouldn’t stand a chance of getting a mortgage on it on their average wage without a massive deposit.

Crushed23 · 20/03/2026 21:15

I don’t know if it’s just fashion or the quality of TV cameras or what, but the 28 year-old Londoner they’re helping buy a flat looks about 38. It’s also a reminder that people used to be able to buy in London by themselves in their 20s. I scraped enough to buy my London flat at 31, but it would have been later had Covid not accelerated my savings.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 21/03/2026 14:40

We skipped to series 2,camera work is better ,music is what we recognise for LLL and Phil and Kirsty have had some presenting training, the difference is quite remarkable.

It IS depressing how reasonable the houses were back then 😢

I recently tried to find old episodes and couldn't find the beginning-where are you watching @MrsCarmelaSoprano ?? 👀

Ha I’ve been watching it from the beginning. They pretty much got over their nerves by second year though, with Kirstie’s bossy ‘knock this wall down’ and Phil’s more diplomatic persona coming to the fore, and the banter between them. And the format of them both showing each person five or more properties, and explaining more the ins and outs of buying, whereas now they split up and just do house hunting. But yes I was shocked too - all those London flats for less than £100k! Kirstie saying an extension or loft conversion could be done for £15k! 🤣 She had lovely skin and liked the fringe and shorter dark hair on her. Don’t recall seeing her in any trousers though, but she has said she felt in the early days she needed to dress as one would expect (blazers and pencil skirts) though she’s also said they were her own clothes. How many red coats can one person own?
