Just watched the Louis Theroux doc and as a dad of a ten year old boy I found it utterly depressing. But one thing I took from it was just how pathetic the whole thing was.

The alpha fuckwits at the top are obviously misogynistic, loathsome, soulless, dead-eyed, ball-scum with all the charm of a B and M carrier bag full of human shit. But they are in their bones.. first and foremost conmen.

One thing I think it exposed really well was that this manosphere of influencers doesn’t have some grand manifesto or world view, no matter how much they froth at the mouth on ‘The Cigar-smoking Pricks Podcast’, What they actually have is an age-old scam. A pyramid scheme.

They show a lifestyle and then convince other men to sign up to some financial academy, or bullshit financial trading product, or their bile-inducing podcast and then they rinse these whooping lobotomised dimwits of their money.

And they tie all this to a hatred of women not JUST because they are sociopathic pieces of shit who see women only as a thing to exploit or an accessory like a ridiculous car or a fat watch.. but because they know their marks.

Their targets are a swathe of gullible, backwards men and boys lacking in anything approaching character or personality. And I don’t say that just to insult them. I say that because the ONLY thing they have ever had going for them is the fact that they were born with all the advantages inherent in being a man.. the wage disparity, the opportunity gap, the wealth gap, the lack of fear of SA etc etc.. everything. And they are terrified of losing that advantage because true equality would take that advantage away and what would they be left with then? Nothing.

And so they react to being told that they are the masters of the universe, ..just a 500 quid investment away from a Bugatti and a supermodel, while they stick a fat exhaust on their Ford Fiesta and refer to women as things. It makes them feel special. In a world where they are anything but.

But here’s the truth about the whole red pill, cheat codes bullshit.

A truth laid bare in the documentary… it is the easiest thing in the world to be a millionaire. I am not kidding. Every single person reading this can be a millionaire within months. All you have to so is abandon anything that makes you good, ditch all moral fibre and concern you might have for your fellow human. Abandon the ability to give and receive love, and treat everybody around you like a thing to stand on and be squeezed to your own advantage. Then sit in your cringe-inducing sports car and film yourself telling others that you’ve found the cheat codes for life.. and rinse them too.

You’ll be living the life in no time.

But what a life.

My son will be raised to see through this. To be a part of a generation that is better.

I find Man Vs Baby really irritating. There's just something about his writing style that winds me up.

I would like to watch the documentary though, as a parent of a son. Have you watched it OP?

I’m actually watching this now. About half way through. It’s just awful. I don’t even know what to say really it’s just so depressing. I have two teenage daughters and it honestly scares me to death that young men are following these influencers and taking on these views and mindsets and these are the types of men my daughters may potentially meet.

I have 2 grown dss who couldn't be further from this thank goodness.

They tie what they're selling to a hatred of women because patriarchy. Patriarchy will always assert and perpetuate itself. Internet platforms - which may I remind you are invented by socially maladjusted men - are just the most recent manifestation of it. Every generation of women has to fight the same enemy, again and again. I grew up hearing men say their wives should vote the same as them, because they earned more than their wives. Now fifty years later I'm hearing these dudebros say that men think for women because women don't want to think. When women win one argument, patriarchy invents another but the goal is always the same - control and subjugation of women.

Btw there's a better documentary that came out last year still available on the iPlayer - Men of the manosphere - it looks at how the algorithms work both in terms of how they're constructed and the effects they have on viewers.

I watched half of it last night with my 22yo ds. He was effervescent with rage at the attitude of these males. However we both had a suspicion that some of the statements about the partners were fake, as if it was staged to sell the ‘dream’.

As a survivor from previous domestic abuse and control I found it extremely disturbing and triggering, just typing now I can feel the panic of things that I lived with over 30years ago.

I’m not sure when I’ll be ready to watch the rest of it.

Out of interest, did Louis interview any of these males’ parents?

I only lasted 15 minutes as my blood pressure was through the roof.
