UK Entry Out Today

And its not all in English. I guess this is the quirky off the wall entry a lot of British fans have been waiting for a while for.

Does it deliver?

Eins, Zwei, Drei and a slice of pepperoni....

I’m totally in two minds about our entry - it’s undoubtedly catchy, but I think it’s just a bit too off the wall for the juries. Will the public love it?? I don’t know. What I do think however, is if a country like Sweden had entered it, everyone would be raving about it and declaring it genius. As it’s us….????

I agree.

HOWEVER, looking at the other entries so far, Austria and Greece seem to be the only other two in the 'quirky' entry space so thats not a bad thing. The Greek entry is doing well with the bookies and is 4th fav. It reminds me of Kalush Orchestra.

TBH there doesn't look like there's many entries this year that are really catching my attention full stop though. It was what I was expecting this year, so whilst I'm disappointed, I'm also not that surprised either. It was inevitable I think.

Delta Goodrum representing Australia, has to be one to watch I guess. Its not an awful song. Its not very original, but I'd be surprised if it didn't do well.

The fav is currently Finland, with Denmark second fav. Helskini have clearly wanted it for a while and its good. Denmark I get why but I'm not sure yet.

I quite like Bulgaria for no particular reason.

Oh I haven’t heard Delta’s song yet, will check it out today. Greece is growing on me - initially I hated it! I do hope we do well - DD and I went to Basel last year and had tickets to the Saturday afternoon run through, it was so much fun. Oddly enough, the songs that went down well in the arena weren’t necessarily the ones that actually did well on the night - Malta and Finland went down an absolute storm, and although Erika did ok, (not as well as she should have IMO), the public absolutely hated Malta, so who knows?

NobodysChildNow · 06/03/2026 10:13

I love it! Giving me 90s vibes.

my dd15 will adore it

HaroldMeaker · 06/03/2026 10:13

I love our song! It’s upbeat and silly with a thumping good chorus and how very British !

NobodysChildNow · 06/03/2026 10:19

It’s sooo catchy. Added to my playlist it will be perfect for thumping out a tough bike ride at the gym later!

Raahh · 06/03/2026 11:21

I heard the song earlier, and watched the video. It's very catchy. Sounds very British- despite the lyrics about wanting leave Grin
So, I've listened to it, probably 3 times in total, and it's completely stuck in my head already. Will it win? Unikely. Probably won't even get many points. It's the antidote to all the sappy ballads.

I do agree, it will be met with howls of 'omg it's awful/ we've lost the plot' - but if somewhere else had sent it, it would be the best thing since bratwurst.

It's definitely the sort of thing that will have the audiences yelling singing along.

LlynTegid · 06/03/2026 11:22

I wonder when the protests will be if Israel participates, semi-finals or finals perhaps?

More than a nod to Verka.

But the lyrics are actually really quite clever

So sick of doing the whole 9 to 5
I pay my dues, I'm just stayin' alive
And I'm so bored of it, bored of it
Oh, what's the point of it, point of it? (Oh ja, ja, ja)
A paracetamol to quench the pain
The office cubicle has trapped me again
Am I a mouse in a cage, am I
D-d-d-demotivational?

Eins, zwei, drei
Darlin', I need something salty
Eins, zwei, drei
With a slice of pepperoni
I'll pay, you can owe me
That'll be a pony
Eins, zwei, drei
I'm comin' back to life
Eins, zwei, drei
Got me feeling okеy-dokey
Eins, zwei, drei
Goodbyе drudgery, hello me
So light you can throw me
Kill at karaoke
Eins, zwei, drei
I'm coming back to life
You might also like

Countin' in English doesn't cut the mustard
So sick of munching roly-poly with custard
I'm so bored with it, bored with it
Oh, what's the point of it, point of it? (Oh ja, ja, ja)
I've always been a fan of aviation
I'm jumpin' on a plane to another nation
And all my pounds, they feel counterfeit
I need some euros to count on it

I do think its very British in an unBritish way.

@RedToothBrush I agree, the lyrics are clever . I hope he does well with it. The staging should be fun- and he looks like someone who knows how to perform live.

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 06/03/2026 11:47

I think this is salient, though. When countries like Lithuania or Poland - whose domestic music stars aren't really that well known internationally - send in a 'quirky' entry (and one which sends a strong message of "Hey, it's fun to take part; but there's absolutely no way we're in a position to to host it!"), it's not the same as when one of the two countries that has hugely dominated the worldwide pop music scene for decades does likewise.

I don't think it's awful at all, but it just isn't outstanding or memorable enough to come anywhere near winning. As I said on the other thread, you could be every country's 11th favourite song - which is no mean achievement - but end up with no points at all.

Not sure if this is true but this is being claimed:

Fredrik Rydman will be the stage art director of United Kingdom’s & Bulgaria’s entry for #Eurovision 2026

Rydman also worked on “Heroes”, “Cha Cha Cha”, “The Code” and many more.

What do we think about the Israel entry? Me and DH like it. Think the France one sounds like copying Austria from last year. Liking our entry, at least it's fun and a bit different. Good news if it is Fredrick Rydman, Heroes was great.

RedToothBrush · 07/03/2026 10:12

France are going for the combined jury and televote. They WANT to win badly. An operatic winner has won two years on the trot. To me that suggests a potential lack of originality which the jury do vote on.

Although it's really good and I wouldn't be surprised at it winning, I'm really disappointed at sexy school uniform. I thought that went out with the 90s for various reasons.

Anyway. Boy George is about the last thing the song contest needed for controversial issues. But here we are. (Thanks for that San Marino)
