Did anyone watch Eastenders tonight. How emotional has this storyline been. Anyone who has cared for someone and then sadly the realisation you cannot cope anymore and your loved when has to go into a care home is the most horrible feeling of guilt . Brilliantly written and acted

Yes this storyline has been very well written and the acting has been amazing with the attention to detail to a tee!

My mum had dementia and she went the same way as Nigel the confusion not knowing where she was always wanting to walk out and the fits of anger if she didn’t want to do something and thinking people were doing things to her it’s such cruel disease for everyone involved I looked after mum she didn’t end up in a home but mainly because we had care at home with me doing the nights and it does burn you out so I knew how they felt it brings back memory’s ! Mum ended up falling like Nigel and ended up in hospital she passed Christmas 25 it was a relief when she did pass even though it was devastating and very sad to lose mum as we were very close but I had really lost her before she passed so you lose them twice really! it’s such a hard thing to deal with
The actors who play Nigel Phil and Julie they have acted this so well I did read that they had the dementia charity’s on board for the storyline as they wanted it to be highlighted as accurately factual as it could be and they have done this I think very well indeed so well done Eastenders.
