Goodnight Sweetheart has apparently disappeared

We were watching it on ITVX and without warning it seems to have gone.

Despite Google suggesting iplayer and U, it's not on those services either.

Anyone know anything?

We were using it as a tool to teach the kids about WW2 and were enjoying the 90s nostalgia too!

The first two series are on Acorn TV, which is a subscription service.

I always thought Gary was very creepy and the whole premise of the show was just beyond weird. He's cheating on his wife but somehow meant to be the hero of the show.

Hes not the hero, he's the nain character i liked it back in the day.

Yes I felt uncomfortable about it - tried to watch it when it first came out but gave up after a couple of episodes, just didn't warm to it and I think the cheating aspect was probably why.

Yes, the whole show is bad woman with a successful career, who doesn't centre her husband in everything.

The final episode where she finds out everything, doesn't his slimy pal say something about being surprised she's upset and pondering if he even knew she loved him?

Message - worship at the altar of your husband's cock, be a 1940s trad wife or he'll go find someone who is. Literally in this case.

I knoooow the premise is somewhat contentious - but it is a good way of introducing kids to some of the realities of the war at home (I think anyway).

I dont see a problem with the protagonist doing something you wouldnt agree with. People watch shows with dodgy leads all the time. Maybe some didnt want to see Nicholas Lyndhurst behaving like that, but have no problem watching Jeffrey Dahmer programmes as they know there will be questionable morals from the beginning 🙂

Probably the licence has finished. I have seen this happen on ITVx before, suddenly the programme disappears. Frustrating but one of those things unfortunately

I loved this back in the day , used to watch with my mam, recently there's a huge backlash against Gary for his cheating ways , he's a bit of an anti hero really, kind of like Tony soprano but without the murder . Gary also stole music from future artists to make money , forged money and identity.
