Child Snatcher - Netflix

has anyone watched this yet?

it’s about the child serial killer Robert Black. Now I was born in 1980 so his name is familiar. I would have been 11-12 when he was finally caught

But I had absolutely no idea how he was caught. A eagle eyed guy saw a girl walk past a van but didn’t appear on the other side. Van drove off and guy called the police. Police came out straight away (early 90’s don’t forget). As the police are taking a statement, guy see’s the van again and policeman jumps in front of it to stop it. He opens the back doors and see’s under a pile of blankets is a little girl with her feet & hands bound, mouth taped and a cushion cover over her head.

when he takes the cover over her head, the policeman discovers that it’s his own daughter 😳 I’ve never gasped so much in my life

the guy was evil personified. He was convicted of killing 4 girls in total but I’m sure there were more

just horrific

I remember hearing how he was caught and thought what a stroke of luck that was. He's a horrible man.
I remember Sarah Harper going missing, as she was from a little town, part of the outskirts of Leeds, where I'm from. And near where my aunt and uncle lived.
If you look him up on Wikipedia, he was committing these crimes all over and not just in the UK.
Personally, I'm glad he's dead. One less piece of scum to have to deal with.

I can't find it on Netflix. Is it new?
I found Manhunt The child snatcher on prime is that it?

It’s called Manhunt - the child snatcher. It’s new on Netflix but is from 2023

I'm in Canada so maybe that's why it's on a different platform. I've taken the day off sick and was looking for something to watch. Thanks for the suggestion

I remember reading about his awful crimes. Wasn’t he from near Edinburgh but had a job that meant he was on the road a lot (like a travelling salesman) which was why he managed to murder little girls across the country.

Yes, he worked for a poster dispatch company. He drove all over the uk (including to Northern Ireland, and he was one of the only ones who volunteered to do so as The Troubles meant it was a very volatile place in the 80s.)

The first crime he was convicted of was 1981 (although that wasn’t until many years later) but most agree he abducted and murdered Genette Tate in 1978 and very likely April Fabb in 1969.
