I am watching this and I completely sympathize with Michael.

He had a horrendous childhood, and then had the money to create one for himself.

He invited seriously ill children to have a day they would remember, because mainly, they were dying.

I think if him as caring, kind. and misunderstood.

So if a random guy wanted your child to share his bed and said "it's ok, I didn't have a childhood", you'd be ok with that?

It was never a random child, it was always a seriously ill child.

I think it's adults' minds putting a sinister connotation on a simple event.

In the programme, Michael said that the child slept in his bed and he slept on the floor.

Erm, yeah, ok, but he was wanking them off, surely that’s a problem? 🤯

It wasn’t only ill children? There were at least two that he carted round the world with him. Both claimed abuse.

Where is the proof? They might have claimed abuse knowing he was rich, and wanting a payout.

Or more likely, their parents wanted compensation for something that never happened.

You need to remember how seriously screwed up his life was as a child.

How does a child prove an adult was inappropriate with them? Gosh victim blaming. How many people have come forward? A man has a bad childhood so he couldn't have possibly done all the horrendous things his victims have come forward and spoken of? Really?

There are plenty of rich and famous men who have never been accused of abusing children...if it was just about money you would think it would be fairly universal.

At the very very least MJ was massively massively inappropriate with young boys (interestingly never girls, its almost like he had a type). We know he had sleepovers with them this is wrong regardless.

People can be both incredibly talented and also a nonce. They can have childhood trauma and be a nonce (in fact this is quite common). The fact that he chose mostly the most vulnerable children is....well it doesn't make it better does it.
I absolutely think that his preferences protected him. It's impossible for such a successful man to be sexually attracted to boys...isn't it??! If he was doing it to girls people would have realised sooner.

If you didn't like him so much, would you be defended him? Could you accept that his behaviour less then steller?

It's a strange phenomenon, we can't seem to get our heads around the fact that someone can be really really good at something without being a wonderful person as well.

No grown man should be sharing a bed with a child with perhaps the exception of a father with his own unwell or frightened kid.

In my opinion this is one of the clearest 'hiding in plain sight ' crimes ever. Not abusing children like McCauley Culkin gives plausible deniability.

How people still believe the old bollocks about him being a Peter Pan type character I'll never understand.

Yeah that's like saying Jimmy Saville was lovely because he always visited paralysed kids at Stoke Mandeville hospital. He chose them because they were vulnerable. That's what predators do.

I don't understand how people can think MJs relationship with young boys was anything other than bizarre and massively inappropriate. Why do they need to sleep in his room, in his bed?

Name one grown man you know who would choose to, in fact go out of the way to share a bed with a strangers young son?

It’s a pity. I want to think he’s innocent but all the proof points to being guilty.

After he was found ‘not guilty’ at trial, a travesty in itself, he actually put out a statement saying he would no longer sleep with boys in his bed ?! He told Martin Bashir that he slept with boys unrelated to him and called it ‘a beautiful thing’.

He was a paedophile pure and simple. He groomed prepubescent boys, molested them and got rid of them when they were too old for him.

It is generally accepted he had an awful childhood (as did his brothers who didn’t turn out like him) but every paedophile has an excuse as to why they do it. It doesn’t stop what they do being sexual abuse!

I have no skin in this game, the dead cannot defend themselves, but many sex offenders have screwed up childhoods, it doesn’t exonerate them from their crimes. It just goes some way to explaining them.

Not all of the children were ill- not that it makes any difference. Michael may well have claimed at one point that he slept on the floor but he also said (in the Bashir interview I think) ‘What could be more beautiful than sharing your bed with a child?’
He said himself that he SHARED his bed with children to whom he was unrelated.

Everyone knows this is deeply inappropriate and not something you should do. Everyone. Except MJ apparently.

I do also judge the parents who happily sent their young boys for sleepovers at the home of an adult man who was practically a stranger.

OP, did you see the video of him and one of the boys walking around Neverland? Sitting together for a picnic by the lake? Holding hands? Asking someone to video it?

I can't forget learning in one of the many documentaries that MJ had a complicated bell system set up in the hallway and stairs leading up to his bedroom. Why would anyone need that if they had nothing to hide?!?
