Anyone watching this? It's about 4 mothers of autistic sons in Northern Ireland and how difficult it is to manage their challenging behaviour as they get older and bigger. I'm finding it upsetting to watch but do much worse for the families, living this life.

Watched it earlier in the week. Extraordinary women, completely let down by the so-called support services. Hard to
watch but really needs to be acknowledged.

Wow I'm only 15 minutes in and this is really distressing watching

I really felt for Claire crying like that

Why was it unsuccessful when Julie took legal action against the Belfast Trust? I don't get it

purpleme12 · 06/02/2026 23:12

They called on the second night of respite to say they couldn't cope with him 😞

purpleme12 · 06/02/2026 23:26

That mum at the end who didn't come back after school
😓😓😓😓
You felt her when she said have they been lying to us when they said there was no money and now there's money for this

purpleme12 · 06/02/2026 23:27

When Claire was crying at the end saying she wasn't ready for Danny to go into residential care cos no one will love him like I do 😓

God that was the saddest and most distressing thing I've watched for a long time.

I find it really really hard with my child who has outbursts and can be violent towards me and it's just me. But of course she's nothing like the ones on the programme. But watching the programme has made me think about ways to deal with her. It's so hard in the moment. When you've had no diagnosis either

I have an adult son who displayed similar behaviour in his teens, though thankfully he is now much calmer and more settled. I found it such a hard watch - almost like re-living the trauma of those years. I want to talk to those women and share the things that worked for us - no magic bullet, but they definitely helped.
