Just watching long lost family …

… and heavens above I am sobbing.

I’m recovering from an operation and I’ve never watched it before. It’s so heartbreaking.

The cases where the adopted person realises their parents stayed together and had more dc 😢 Oh my goodness… however thrilled you would be to discover your roots and your long lost family… that’s got to hurt hasn’t it? Wouldn’t you be so jealous of your brothers and sisters?

No judgement as in most cases these situations happened to teenagers back in the 60s or 70s when unplanned pregnancy was frowned upon, but I’d be interested in knowing how these cases are handled nowadays?

Please someone tell me it’s done differently now?

The very first episode with the twin sisters reunited after 66 years absolutely broke me. They were dressed alike and just ran to each other. Beautiful.

I love this show. I cry watching every episode. I found the foundling baby stories particularly moving.

I think they handle the subject matter quite sensitively don’t they and miss out a chunk of detail here and there to protect people’s privacy.

Do closed adoptions like this still go ahead? Does anyone know? I understand that they might have to where abuse or neglect is concerned but surely in cases where teens can’t look after a child, are they allowed to keep in touch with their babies nowadays?
