The Apprentice. Where do they find these idiots?

Is it just me or is it too painful to watch the incompetence of the contestants on The Apprentice? They seem to specifically bring on people who have zero clue about anything, not even basic life skills.
I actually think I would enjoy watching it if they brought in some intelligent/motivated people. But they seem to only bring in people who have zero skills and an exuberant amount of ego .
I couldn't imagine working alongside any of them, how do they possibly get through the application process ?

Yes and why are they all dressed like it’s 1987? Hardly anyone wears a suit and tie to work any more and the women’s outfits with their heels are just plain impractical.

why do all the contestants look like models? If the female contestants paid as much attention to business planning as their appearance maybe we would get somewhere.

Maybe part of the apprentice is a poor attempt to show that you don't need to be middle class with a degree from Oxford to be a success in life? There seems a very staged attempt at diversifying the cast as much as possible including stereotypical working class characters. Maybe that guy with the economics degree from Cambridge might be good at business planning and dynamic pricing......who knows because we don't see them.

the general public don't want to see a swathe of middle class university graduates getting on......many want to see people.like them from the university of life.

I stopped watching it years ago, but none of the comments surprise me. I’m sure that the winners are picked by the producers: probably the overall winner is decided at the start.

Maybe they decided on “entertaining” contestants ever since Katie Hopkins, and I think she was only series 2. It is notable that you see far more of what they do wrong, than right.

Not in this series, but does anyone remember “are you really Jewish? We can pull your trousers down and check.”

The odd thing is that, apart from car crashes like Katie Hopkins, I would say the most memorable contestant was Ruth Badger - and that was because she was so competent. It would be great if they had a whole series-full of people like her. I will say, however, that this year's winner was better than most.

What really irritates me is when the candidates spend most of their time during tasks looking for excuses for blaming their potential failure on someone else. Why not just concentrate on genuinely doing your best so your team will win the task anyway?

I think there is that message to youngsters that with limited education you can start a business with sheer personality and bravado. This is wrong. I love in a town where frequently we see the stress of small business owners going into debt as their new enterprises fail in a weak local economy.....it's really sad. Most new businesses fail and may be we have to get this message across to our youth.

also reverence of billionaires has had its day. The apprentice is based on its UScounterpart that was hosted by Donald Trump whose inflated ego is now starting to reveal real problems. A good question is why should we respect the rich?
