Has anyone watched this? I enjoyed this thriller more than Run Away. A satisfying ending I didn’t see coming.

Yes it’s good. I knew the ending as I’ve read the book but it’s definitely worth a watch.

Heartbreaksally · 11/01/2026 14:39

Yes I really enjoyed it too. I felt the ending was going to be an anticlimax because id already guessed the twist, but then it twisted again. Very satisfying ending. And definitely better than runaway.

Same here, I guessed the first twist a mile off. So I was not expecting THE ending.

I guessed the murderer on about episode 2. Thought it was more enjoyable than Run Away and I thought well acted by the 2 main leads.

firstofallimadelight · 11/01/2026 18:51

The book is excellent, I’ve just finished the series. It’s ok it was a bit slow at first and didn’t like the police guy he was really unappealing. but it definitely picked up . I’d remembered the first reveal but not the final one. I thought it would have worked better as a confession to the viewer rather than an actual confession

TheTwenties · 11/01/2026 18:53

Thought it was great, didn’t see the twist at the end coming.

burnoutbabe · 11/01/2026 22:09

Just finished. We guessed twist one early on. Had vaguely mentioned twist 2 as a possibly around episode 4, but dismissed it.
I even said during the lakeside fight -that person isn’t very good at fighting for a nasty murderer!
I shall seek out books by her.

Spoilers.....

I thought it was a bit silly that she had her attack evidence clearly on video, and she still chose to never report it? You can understand people not reporting when it's their word against the attackers, but she's just been sitting on video evidence for years? And the attackers just went free. A bit annoying

Funtime17 · 13/01/2026 21:20

Spoiler:

so why did the couple want Anna at the house at the end?

LightYearsAgo · 13/01/2026 21:26

I enjoyed it but as always the book is better
Too late for anyone who has already watched it but if you haven't I'd definitely recommend reading the book first. I preferred the UK setting of the book

Same here. Sends a weird message that the 3 girls get killed but the rapists don’t even get jailed.

I found myself laughing at the plot around episode 4.

* Spoiler*

Yes very convenient that Lexi wanted Anna there and was in a rage at the same time as the killer wanted her that way. And the killer letting Anna be in danger because her husband would save her was trite too.

And Priya showing up right on time made me laugh too.

Hels20 · 14/01/2026 06:03

Spoilers

so Lexy killed her sister - or at least significantly contributed to her death - and that was why we weren’t supposed to be upset with the murders being pinned on her because she was an unlikeable person but had also done nothing to help Anna on the night of the attack? I guess Anna had suffered trauma so her memory of what had actually happened was a false memory?

lexy just wanted (I assume) to rant at her about her sleeping with her husband and reveal she took her job /who she was. They were just doing diy in the house.

weird lexy wasn’t worried that she may be a target? But then those 3 nasty girls probably did tons of things to tons of other people. She probably wouldn’t link it to that incident.

did Aggie drop out of school after? Clearly not as mum never knew until saw the video. Why would you date the brother of a girl who arranged your rape?

I loved it but the end made little sense when you thought about it.

I didn’t think it was silly. I wouldn’t want to show everyone a video of me being raped and humiliated for all the world to see. Bad enough that your ‘best friends’ who’d set it up just watched and laughed. I totally get your anger would be at the ‘friends’ and if you went to the Police they’d probably get off lightly or completely pretending that it was nothing to do with them and they were too scared to intervene.

I don’t think the girls arranged the rape did they? I think it is just that they all stood back and let it happen. And neither of them seemed that bothered that it happened.

Yes they did, but the target victim was Catherine. When the men started to attack Anna Rachel told them she would ‘give them a discount’. Anna said Rachel arranged it but the other two knew about it.

Didn’t they make the heroine wear sexy underwear? If yes, I think there was a suggestion that they wanted the men to see her
in it.

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2026 16:06

Just finished this and quite enjoyed it after a slow start.
The bits that bothered me was Jack sitting around with his shirt covered in his sister’s blood,
and Anna cuddling up to him. Just felt wrong, like he’d want to get it off, especially talking about how he’s going to break the news to his niece.

I didn’t like how many times Jack called his niece ‘baby’, I guess they were trying to show a close relationship because he will ultimately be her guardian, but I just found it annoying.

And just wondering how realistic it was for no one to have noticed that the 16 year old Catherine has become adult Lexi on the news. Of course she lost weight, but had she really changed so much that the whole small town, school, and close friend Anna didn’t recognise her, despite Anna working for the same news channel? At some point would Lexi never have said “you don’t recognise me do you?” since they were competing for the same job.

Yes I guessed the killer in episode 2 but they threw that curve ball in at the end. I was also confused about what was going on at the lake house as Richard seemed genuinely shocked when Anna shot at him so it did make me wonder if all wasn't as it seemed.

biggestcatmom · 27/01/2026 00:33

Watched as far as E4, I find it really boring but will carry on watching as DH never usually suggests a box set but his work colleagues suggested it

CheeseWisely · 29/01/2026 21:37

We’ve just finished it and the final twist came as a shock! We did comment on how quickly Priya turned up, given how fast he’d been driving and that she’d been out cold on the floor when he left. An enjoyable watch anyway.
