It’s runaway on Netflix. I can’t find a thread! It’s really good!!

Just looked it up. How far through are you?

It's 8 episodes which makes me suspicious that it will run out of steam and if I sit gawking at it for 5 episodes by the time that happens, I will still sit and resentfully gawk at the remaining three.

Cappie73 · 01/01/2026 18:14

Just about to watch the second episode, I’ll likely be watching the lot this evening. Enjoying it so far.

LightYearsAgo · 01/01/2026 18:17

Ive watched two, it's OK but not very realistic imo, I won't post anything so as not to spoil but I'm finding it unrelatable

We’re on episode 6.
its good but has lots of flaws I’m trying to ignore 😬

pinkperm · 01/01/2026 18:41

I’ve finished it. I got a bit bored and lost in the middle but the twist at the end was good.

I think the HB adaptations always seem a bit unrealistic as they are based on books set in the USA but changed to the UK for Netflix. So some things have to be changed to reflect this. I haven’t read this particular book but I know there were a few changes to the last one which was based on a book written a few decades ago in New York.

MissyB1 · 01/01/2026 18:46

I hadn’t heard of this one, will give it a go.

the80sweregreat · 01/01/2026 18:50

I’ve watched two so far and a bit confused and the young girl who looks like a young Karen Carpenter is really annoying me. She is so smug and it is incredibly violent. It’s nice seeing Ruth jones.

i weirdly love the Netflix adaptations of Harlan Coben novels because their houses are beautiful!

Totally unrealistic but I love them!

tigger1001 · 01/01/2026 19:07

Im almost finished. Like most of the adaptations of his books you have to suspend belief but im enjoying it

treesandsun · 01/01/2026 19:24

I'm on episode 4 I previously read the book but can't actually remember what happens. I'm pretty sure the book was set in America and this has been relocated to England which doesn't always seem to work. As I spend time most nights flicking through trying to find something decent to watch I'll probably watch all of them.

HipHopDontYouStop · 01/01/2026 19:29

I think they are all so very bad.

RedRiverShore6 · 01/01/2026 19:34

On episode 4 it's good but have had to abandon it for Eastenders, traitors and Night manager, will continue tomorrow

Member984815 · 02/01/2026 10:29

I've read the book this one is based on so just started watching . When the location is changed in these adaptations they sometimes lose something and become a bit unbelievable. I have high hopes for this one

Coconutter24 · 02/01/2026 10:31

I’ve got runaway lined up to watch. I just watched Lazarus and half way through shelter.

CarpeVitam · 02/01/2026 18:57

Aside from Nesbitt, the acting is DIRE so gave up on it!

Lennonjingles · 02/01/2026 19:00

We’ve watched 3 episodes today, DH reads all the books, he did remember the start, but nothing else. The storylines can be complicated.

sellotapechicken · 02/01/2026 19:07

I was waiting for a sneaky Richard Armitage cameo not gonna lie!

Me too! 🤣

hattie43 · 02/01/2026 19:49

It’s the same as all his others , strong start and then I lose interest because they are all so samey
and go off in a weird direction . Stretches credulity all the time .

pinkperm · 02/01/2026 20:37

SPOILER

I didn’t understand the storyline with Elena, her late husband and his secret daughter. The daughter looked too old to be his daughter unless he was a teenager when she was born. Was she supposed to have been conceived when he was married to Elena? So he went behind his wife’s back to be a donor for an acquaintance? I found this the most unrealistic part of it all tbh.

Yes this was a bit of a red herring. I did actually think that Ash had shot DeeDee rather than Elena in the cabin 😞

hmmnotreallysure · 02/01/2026 23:01

I've watched all the others but can't bring myself to watch this one, they are always so disappointing.

hattie43 · 02/01/2026 23:15

It’s all these unnecessary sub plots that annoy me as they aren’t relevant. Elenas husbands secret child, why did Dee Dee go on about Ash having a problem in his childhood that was never divulged . One minute the daughters in a wheelchair and then she’s standing and walking . The detective ignoring a murder because the ‘ guy ‘ helps people in the community and don’t get me started on the ridiculous religion / cult thing . It’s always a cult , bad boarding school or evil children’s home behind most of these dramas these days .
