It’s runaway on Netflix. I can’t find a thread! It’s really good!!

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 14/01/2026 22:55

I assumed that Henry must have died tbh.

Highlighta · 15/01/2026 08:59

I finished this last night.

I started it last week and it was a real slog to get through.

It was so ridiculous that I had to finish it, just to see how much more ridiculous it could get. Well, the ending was proof of that. My goodness what a lot of utter tripe 😂

I see there is no spoiler alert on the heading, so i don't know if I can post about all the atrocities. And characters with stories that went nowhere.

I am sure I cannot be alone in this.

Highlighta · 15/01/2026 09:16

SPOILER

I don't know how I missed the last few posts, so I see I am not alone at all 😂

The whole bit about the professor was a complete waste of time. And even Paige's university friend (can't even remember her name she was so unmemorable), with the affair bit. What did that have to do with story.

And, why was there so much detail about the PI stalking her husband's love child, and that just went nowhere. And so much time was spent on that. We could have cut out at least two episodes there.

And then the "tech woman". Has a right proper set up there, and she really didn't seem to be very efficient. When JN asks her to keep tracking PI,, and she says she can't as PI deleted the tracking app on her phone 😂

Let us not even go there that a wife will go to all that trouble, even getting shot and not tell anyone, including her husband, that the missing kid was actually in rehab. All of these police detectives missed that too. Is that not the first place the police look when on a case of a missing drug addict.

And what about the 60 thousand pounds! To be told she got on a bus to some city lol
Oh, and 10 THOUSAND pounds for the DNA test.

😂

Disturbia81 · 15/01/2026 09:29

They are so unrealistic but I think they are meant to be, you have to suspend disbelief

Agreed. It's a ripping yarn is what it is. It's not a documentary.

Turquoisesea · 15/01/2026 18:13

@Highlightayes I had forgotten about the £10k for the dna test and £60k to be told Paige got on a bus 🤣. I’ve watched plenty of bad dramas but this one tops the lot. I can only think HC must have been on drugs himself when he wrote it!

BretonStripe · 15/01/2026 19:03

I agree with everything everyone is saying!

Re: local rehabs being the first place you'd look for your drug addicted runaway daughter/police would check, I think James Nesbitt starting driving her back there when it was dark, and it was light when they got there? So perhaps an overnight drive away/not local?

All of this. 100%. I felt taken for a ride to be honest. The early ones were great, and lots of high calibre actors are clearly lining up to be in them, but they seem to be phoned in by a bunch of trainees now.

Next think you know there'll be a Harlen Coven musical, and I'm only half joking.

Sweetleftfood · 16/01/2026 14:46

Agree I felt I wasted time on it as I needed to finish it of course! James Nesbitt is really not a great actor, he is literally the exact same character in anything he is in. Annoying!

How did the police find the private detective's body? It wasn't obvious where she would have been taken and she wasn't tracked, just turn up at a random lake and start digging in the exact spot?

tattime · 16/01/2026 14:50

I do think James Nesbitt is contractually obliged to have a line about his Irish charm. I swear it’s trotted out whatever the part

KillingEvesbestmate · 16/01/2026 15:05

So so bad. Couldn't get past the first episode.

Screamingabdabz · 17/01/2026 19:48

redwinecheeseandothersnacks · 10/01/2026 19:44

Amy Gledhill, Ruth Jones...sorry girls just too fat, stay in your lane and certainly no bedroom action. Minnie Driver..gorgeous..well done.

‘Stay in your lane’? Ugh. Misogynist thinking.

That spot was just so ridiculous as well. In broad daylight. How long would that perfectly rectangle hole have taken to dig. Not a soul came past walking their dog or having a leisurely walk to see them hard at work. With a wrapped body just laying there whilst they did it.

Actually, I think a jogger did run past and didn't stop or notice them. But it was still absurd!

Maddy70 · 18/01/2026 10:17

I loved James Nesbit on cold feet but his acting was beyond bad in this and several other things lately

Was that the cyclist so they then sat on the body like it was a log. 🙈
I think they decided to change the spot after that. Because right by the lake side would be way more discreet apparently 😂

Meredusoleil · 18/01/2026 10:56

Yes, that was it! A cyclist 👍

Ponks · 19/01/2026 22:14

Aargh the last two episodes really were tosh. Love the annual Harlan Coben tradition but he needs to improve his endings.

Nosejobnelly · 20/01/2026 11:11

Finished watching last nightll

Spoilers:

The couple, esp DeeDee was so annoying, I wanted to smack her face. So glad she was killed.
It was a very convoluted plot - was quite confusing in parts w all the different strands.
Was v sad when Elena was shot - she was the best character in the whole show.
I did enjoy the twist at the end - is JN going to tell or not - his face was a picture.
No idea where Henry was -assume he was dead and buried!

Nosejobnelly · 20/01/2026 11:56

Meredusoleil · 13/01/2026 22:24

Yes I wondered that about Dee Dee knowing the adoption woman's partner was called Stephanie and what had gone on before 🤔

I didn’t get that either.

DrAmanitaPhalloides · 20/01/2026 21:00

It was such an ick to find Aaron was her brother. In the first episodes, JN character kept watching videos of Paige and Aaron on his phone and they were behaving very much like a young couple dating, was weird.

Yeah, maybe he can't do accents! I've never heard him be anything but Irish.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 21/01/2026 01:32

I love the batshit nonsense that is a Harlan Coban series but Ruth Jones acting was appalling and her storyline was a complete waste of time. I’ve enjoyed her in a couple of other things but she was utter shite in this, I cheered when she got shot, shame we didn’t see it.
Quite why Cornelius was at her funeral, was a mystery, he never even met her did he? And the awful detectives too, beyond bonkers.
When’s the next one?!

Barkleyspaubles · 21/01/2026 01:33

Brilliant twist, just when you think it's all over...

gruit · 22/01/2026 12:05

well, it was absolute crap, wasn’t it?
Their house was gorgeous though.
