KEEP DANCING

No Spoiler Necessary this week! 🪩💃🕺

OP posts:

Amber has always been really good, but she went down in my books when I realised she had been on Love Island

Why does the fact she's been on LI put you off? Former contestants Zara and Tasha were both on Love Island, and they seem to be well liked on Strictly, and both have progressed beyond that in their respective careers.

dapsnotplimsolls · 20/12/2025 13:58

Thank you for all the threads. I'd like Karen to win but won't be gutted if George does.

xsquared · 20/12/2025 14:06

I wish strictly would start all contestants on a more level playing field if it's meant to be a competition

It would be difficult now to get absolute beginners. You would need to discount those who have performing backgrounds or who went to stage school. What about athletes? Surely they have an advantage of being fit and agile for the higher energy dances. What about the social media personality with 5 million followers whose followers vote without watching the dances, surely that's not fair on the more obscure celebrities trying to raise their profile?

Whichever way you look at it, it will never be a level playing field. Everyone now has something that helps them as a contestant, whether that is prior dance experience, being well established in the entertainment industry or having legions of loyal followers on SM.

It would be boring to have 15 Rosses, but it will also be boring to have 15 Lewises. I am glad that we have a wide mix of celebrities, and have voted for different people most weeks.

I wasn't going to bother voting tonight as my favourite is out, but I probably will end up voting for whoever entertains me most.

I really hope it’s Amber. She’s done amazingly in the face of so much hatred.

I agree that overt hate is unacceptable, and she’s had to deal with a lot of it. But strictly is a dance competition for novices/non-dancers, and she is not a novice dancer. Karen has previous dance experience from her childhood, so in truth the only contestant left that genuinely has done this from a completely blank slate is George.

If we are going to be base it on who has learnt to dance and improved the most the clear winner is George.

He’s almost certainly going to win because he has a huge fan-base voting for him, but he deserves to anyway because he’s genuinely learnt and improved every week.

KatyaKabanova · 20/12/2025 14:14

I would draw the line at someone who has been in West End musicals however. Particularly someone having just finished a run in the Great Gatsby which involved dancing the Charleston.
Previously having been in 9 to 5 The Musical and Back to the Future, and is about to star as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde musical.

TennisWithDeborah · 20/12/2025 14:19

I would love to have seen Amber perform in the Great Gatsby. I bet she was terrific.

I would rather a non-professional dancer won SCD so I’m hoping for a George or Karen victory, but I do think she’s ace and I hope her stint on SCD will lead to more opportunities for her. Not that she wasn’t doing very well already !

Holluschickie · 20/12/2025 14:20

Not watching for the second year running. Would like Karen to win but expect it will be George, whom I do not enjoy at all.

Still bummed we won't be seeing Lewis's CC again, or showdance.

She was, apparently - and the Charleston scene was fantastic!
People on the other thread had seen her in other musicals as well, and she was great.
I wonder if that's why Shirley made the remark about the West End stage?

ilovesooty · 20/12/2025 14:22

All my votes will be going to Karen unless something very unexpected happens.

Shirley is sooooo bitter about all of the women on the show. It’s awful

No, strictly is not for “novices” and even if it were, it would not justify any of the hate she got. The vast majority of it is misogynistic seeing as Lewis got nowhere near this level of abuse! Amber deserves the win for not walking away after she started getting abuse.

KatyaKabanova · 20/12/2025 14:52

Shirley? What?!
I haven't detected any bitterness?

threesocksmorgan · 20/12/2025 15:03

its sad that Amber has had abuse. I remember Layton got it as welll.

Its obviously going to be between Karen and George, I don't mind which one of the two wins.

Arlene Phillips posted this on her Instagram (the accompanying photo was of Karen, George, and Amber in their Strictly promo outfits):

Thinking about @bbcstrictly and what a topsy turvy finale it’s going to be 🪩

I wish everyone could remember this is an entertainment show. Online it has become so unpleasant and so depressingly serious. Sometimes it seems people forget the @BBC invites these contestants, all with a mixture of dance histories, they don’t just wander into the competition…!

There have always been contestants with some dance training taking part. At what level, it varies. But the bitterness that now seems to be levelled at those taking part exceeds anything in the past and it really must stop

It’s not even the case that those with prior training always results in a winner, there are many examples. Think of @laytonwilliams - one of the best dancers, he didn’t win but he was fabulous to watch

The dance numbers on #strictlycomedancing are created by some of the best choreographers in the world, and the main thing every season should be about is the joy of dance and learning ballroom and Latin styles

Let’s hope that everyone joins together for the finalists. They all have something different. Yes @ambd is a triple threat and she’s brilliant and she knows what she’s doing, and the hate she has received is totally unfair and has been quite shocking. @georgeclarkeey and @kazcarney are firecrackers and totally deserving and bringing their energy to the competition. Not forgetting of course the exceptional professionals @nikitakuzmin @alexiswarr @gkx_carlos

Tonight let’s celebrate all of them and put our love for all of them into the atmosphere today, and remember for next season to #bekind

Coffeeishot · 20/12/2025 16:13

I think i would like Karen to win, i like her better than George who has been fine. I am actually not bothered.

People are allowed not to want a ringer to win.

threesocksmorgan · 20/12/2025 16:21

People are allowed not to want a ringer to win.

I wasn't making any judgment. I was just sharing a post from a former Strictly judge, for people who might not be on Instagram.

KatyaKabanova · 20/12/2025 16:28

Absolutely, @threesocksmorgan .

gingercat02 · 20/12/2025 16:29

I have no real feelings about tonight. I'm watching because I have watched the series despite not really rooting for anyone and it's the final. I watch for the dancing but I love a journey.
I don't always watch live and I don't often vote, so I can't complain about the results.
I'm happy with Karen or George, but the programme shouldn't have professional dancers on it. However no one should suffer abuse like Amber has.

Adding my thanks Eine, sterling work. Hopefully I will be back next year, but we shall see.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 20/12/2025 16:30

ilovesooty · 20/12/2025 12:11

Yes, thanks from me too.

And me. Great job 🪩

JeffTheSquirrel · 20/12/2025 17:23

I’ve just caught up with ITT from last night.

I suspect we can all agree that Tasha is not a natural presenter.

No, that's really not her forte.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 20/12/2025 17:32

Thanks Eine. I was meant to be out tonight but still getting over the flu so will be watching. Hoping for a Karen & Carlos win but expecting George & Alexis to lift the glitterball.

xsquared · 20/12/2025 17:36

I wonder whether a programe on transforming celebrities with a strong dance background into a Latin and Ballroom dancer would work. Like a dance version of From Pop to Opera, where pop singers had to train to perform as opera singers.

It would mean that they can enter a Latin and Ballroom dance competition without accusations of having an unfair advantage.

They would still have a journey, just a very different one from someone who has two left feet.

Bayroot1 · 20/12/2025 18:17

I don't mind who wins. I wanted Lewis in the final. I'm still watching though.
