I'm rewatching this classic and I would love to discuss with others who have watched or are watching now. I've seen Lorelai and Chris have the on/off thing where it seems clear she's been waiting for him but also is the bigger person when it comes to him doing the right thing by others. She's now with Luke after being jealous of any woman he's seeing while having to accept HE now has a daughter. I can't decide whether she's being unreasonable because, yes, she's has a daughter all along and expects Luke to work around them, but, also Luke has known this forever and has known Rory forever, so maybe it IS a lot for Lorelai to get used to.

Sooki is so good and this show clearly made her a star.

Rory is a bit of a pain at times.

BUT I LOVE THEM ALL.

Lorelai and Luke are just both ridiculous people, she should have accepted he needed to had a daughter now but also he should never have agreed to not have Lorelai involved.
Christopher is a knob

Rory is really a bit of a brat (and should have ended up with Jess!)

Sooki is great but Jackson is awful

Love Emily more and more each time I watch!

Yes I think Rory is a brat but so is Lorelai!

I don't see Luke as ridiculous as I do Lorelai.

I liked Jess a lot and I'm enjoying Emily this time around.

Also just watched last night the episode where Emily wands to buy them a house and she says it's not going to work with Luke and I just feel like it's because he's not 100% doting on her she's not happy!

I liked Max for her.

The older I get and the more I re-watch it, the more I side with Emily😂

Also Rory should have ended up with Logan.

I love all of them, it's such a great show. I have just rewatched it all. And the sequel. (For the 100th time)

Well Luke did keep April a secret and kept them at distance etc, so that must of been rough

I enjoyed it when I first watched it but the older I get the more ridiculous and irritating I find it but agree that Emily is the most realistic character.
I would happily give both Lorelei and Rory a hearty slap.

Are drink driving laws different in the US? I’m always amazed that Lorelai can have a martini and wine with dinner and then drive home. I’ve seen this happen too when Rory isn’t there so there isn’t anyone else to drive her!

Jess was a whining brat, Dean was a drip, Logan was definitely the best.

When I rewatch it now I find Lorelai so selfish and annoying. She can be pretty horrible to Sookie, mean to her mother, and she basically expects everyone to fall in line with whatever she wants to do. Emily is the best character by miles!!

@PickleJelly nooo not Logan, it has been a while since I saw it, he is a thief, steals that ornament from Emily's and she spots it immediately. Talks down to Rory's friend because he bar tends his parties, is ridiculous in his behaviour toward Jess when he visits Rory at college. None of them are right for her in the series, I would have said Jess for later on.

She does behave appallingly especially toward Dean, shags him and then leaves him with the shit storm afterwards and swans off to Europe with Emily.

Now I absolutely love GG, I watched it with my Mum who died a long time ago so that is part of the fondness but I love Lorelei's witty banter and we often quote stuff in this house.

I do agree with Emily the older I get but ultimately Lorelei should get to choose who is right for her not let someone else decide. Christopher is an arsehole all the way through.

Lorelai is an insufferable, childish fool. Her constant, unfunny wisecracking put me right off the whole programme so I stopped watching it.
Wanted to like it (great location, autumnal vibes, etc.) but could just not bear her.

I sympathised with Lorelai during the whole April thing. He didn’t tell her, then he refused to let her anywhere near her?

But Lorelai and Rory can both be very unreasonable.
Rory should be with Logan imo.

As you’re doing a rewatch I assume spoilers are fine. My favourite part is when Luke punches Christopher. I cannot stand Christopher and while obviously I know actors are not their characters, the fact that the actor is now a Trump-voting, Tate-supporting misogynist who thinks women shouldn’t have the vote completely tracks for what I think of Christopher.

Don’t know about the laws but I just watched the episode where Emily gets pulled over and accused of drunk driving and then arrested because she won’t blow into the breathalyser

Agree that Emily is by far the best Gilmor Girl! I won’t do any spoilers but particularly love how the whole thing ends for her. Can’t recall whether it’s in the main series or Year in the Life but it’s fab.

Also rewatching and yes, Emily is great.

I liked Jason for Lorelai!

My favourite Emily moment is the DAR party organised by Rory, where she gives Shira Huntzburger a piece of her mind!

Me too. My teen DD loves this show but I just could not get on with Lorelai's dialogue. She just never shuts up!

Agree with everyone saying team Emily.

I love Jess all the way through though he’s clearly a dick as a teenager (just so handsome!), he grows up to be the best person in it tbh. But I don’t think I’m even team Jess for Rory anymore because she’s soooo annoying from series 5 onwards!
