Such extreme options

He's ok.

purpleme12 · 16/12/2025 19:48

Neither really

vincettenoir · 16/12/2025 21:27

I can’t work it out. I think he’s a good presenter but I can’t tell what he’d be like IRL. He’s very “on” so I can’t guage what his non-work personality is like. Unlike more natural style presenters like Claudia or Rylan.

familyissues12345 · 17/12/2025 08:20

I felt like we saw a different side to him on the programme the other day with Ant and Dec. I probably like him more now

Nitgel · 17/12/2025 08:20

Dull

tobee · 17/12/2025 17:10

I feel like he's quite bland and I'm always amazed he gets so many tv gigs. He never really seems to have a distinct personality; seems a bit cardboard.

Then I see he's doing this thing with Ant and Dec where they send him off to do things that are outside his comfort zone as he lives quite a phobic life it appears.

Never eaten hummus? Not that unusual.
Never eaten ham? Somewhat shocking!

So I feel this might explain how he comes across as a presenter. The fact that he's up for trying to push himself is pretty impressive though!

Not seen the programme though

GoodVibesHere · 17/12/2025 17:52

He's a little bit annoying so I voted loathe, though that seems quite extreme!

EarthAndInstinct · 17/12/2025 18:01

Neither.

I think he’s a wet weekend but my husband loves him. What the heck did his parents do to him that he’s so terrified of everything and anything? He’s extremely mimsy but I can’t dislike him as I feel sorry for him and he has nice hair.

HaughtyAndCold · 17/12/2025 18:03

More meh than love or loathe

EuroTour · 17/12/2025 18:05

I don't think I've ever seen him in anything on television.

I did unfortunately come across him on my Twittex feed just now.

He seems smug and not someone I ever need to see again.

Newyearsameme26 · 17/12/2025 18:09

I always think his dad must own ITV.

MissMoneyFairy · 17/12/2025 18:31

Who is next on the list, done Ant & Dec, now Steve.

TheMarzipanDildo · 17/12/2025 18:40

After googling I’ve just realised I’ve been confusing Stephen Mulhern and Stephen Mangan. I wondered what he was doing on a show with Ant and Dec, and why he’d never eaten hummus.

bloomchamp · 17/12/2025 18:43

I’ve voted love because he’s a very nice, kind and thoughtful friend of a friend of mine

DisforDarkChocolate · 17/12/2025 18:46

Oily, cannot watch him at all.

Thedogscollar · 17/12/2025 18:58

I think he comes across as a genuinely nice person. Love or hate is a bit of an OTT option though.

IMissTheLittleBluePackets · 17/12/2025 19:00

He seems 12 and 45 simultaneously.

Freaks me out.

LlynTegid · 17/12/2025 19:00

Seems to me that you know what to expect, consistent, inoffensive. Probably the right choice for the programmes he hosts.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 17/12/2025 19:09

I think he keeps the real him very well hidden behind his presenter image. I saw that programme last week where he did things out of his comfort zone and thought it was very strange. He went to S Korea but all we saw was him eating things like raw fish, having quite a fierce massage, and going into the sea - all things he could have done without leaving the UK.

And he got upset talking about having lost his dad not long ago, but his mum wrote him a good luck letter for this from her and his dad, so I was very confused by that.

TheChosenTwo · 17/12/2025 19:14

Neither, he comes across as very one dimensional and insincere on anything I’ve seen him on in passing but because it masks his actual personality I have no idea what he’s really like.
So neither for me, I turn over anything he’s in because I don’t like the fake overblown persona he presents - in the same was as Lorraine Kelly comes across as very disingenuous to me, I can’t watch her but she’s probably just normal and okay like the rest of us!

Whats confusing about that?

The dad would be very much alive in their minds and hearts probably, I didnt think there was anything odd about that

Agreed, after my MIL died my FIL would sign birthday and Christmas cards from both of them for years afterwards

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 17/12/2025 20:00

Neither. Seems a decent enough chap.
