It's happening! Cast looks decent too. I'm not familiar with Keeley Forsyth but she looks a good choice for Mazu and I can see John Lynch pulling off Papa J too.

Yay!!

Scarydinosaurs · 10/12/2025 21:54

So excited for this!

No word on when it's airing but my guess is Christmas next year.

Brilliant news. My plan over the Christmas break is to reread TRG, I read it first (not really realising much about the series when I read it), so I’m looking forward to rereading it with the background knowledge esp Strike and Robin’s relationship arc 😀

5 1-hour episodes! Good. It needs at least that much. This was my favourite of all the books so far.

johnworf · 12/12/2025 05:56

My favourite so far in the Strike series. Cannot wait for it to be on tv. Wonder who they'll cast as Murphy and if he will match the Murphy I have in my head? 😋

KiIIingMeDeftly · 12/12/2025 07:53

I think it's the same actor who was Murphy in the IBH adaptation, only they called him Richard rather than Ryan.

I can't wait to see this. I thought the book was brilliant.

Civilservant · 12/12/2025 07:58

This should be good, but dark and tense!

ExquisiteDecor · 12/12/2025 08:03

Excellent, this is the best book so far IMO

berlinbaby2025 · 12/12/2025 08:06

I am delighted that there’s five episodes for this adaptation. The previous three adaptations suffered by only having four episodes in each series. Good casting choices and I think James Fleet is especially well cast. Filming doesn’t end until Feb, so we have a long wait to see it.

Friendlyfart · 12/12/2025 11:04

Cannot wait!! Definitely the best book.

Why do TV producers do this? Absolutely no need to change Murphy’s first name.
Other than that I can’t wait 😃

The only reason I can think of is that the character shares a name with the extremely successful American producer Ryan Murphy. But Strike fans are hardly likely to confuse the two!

Loved this book! Can’t wait the 2 lead actors are superb

Civilservant · 13/12/2025 09:55

Yes, they’re both so good, and so good for the roles!

johnworf · 13/12/2025 19:36

I must have foegotten Murphy had already appeared in it. According to Google this is who played him.

Fantastic news!
This is my favourite Strike. I find cults fascinating.
Love the actors who portray Strike and Robin, both brilliantly cast imo.

lickingfingertastingfood · 15/12/2025 12:26

I saw one of the books in store the other day. It's very long ! Are these books a good read?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/12/2025 12:32

Yes. You need to read them in order as a large part of the interest is the way the relationship between the various characters develops over time, especially the central two.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 15/12/2025 12:33

I've read them all but I think Troubled Blood was a turning point in JKR's writing as the books that were already good became excellent from then onwards.

I’m a massive fan of the Strike books. But I do think they’ve become under-edited. The latest one is too long and far too complicated. The Ink Black Heart was the longest and worst of the series.

That said, I agree that The Running Grave is the best one. And I’m looking forward to the TV adaptation.

There's a real Met police officer with the same name - they aren't allowed to use it.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/12/2025 13:21

I was feeling that about the latest book but on the home stretch I felt it all came toegether magnificently.
