I’ve read the books (loved them) and really wanted to watch the show that’s out. Any North American mumsnetters watching? Anyone else watching via vpn or other nefarious means?

I am in England and have watched it, not read the books. But will at some point. Really enjoyed it so far!

Yay! I’m in the U.K. and have also watched the first three eps. 1 and 2 I loved. Could take or leave ep 3 really but then I didn’t love “their” book. It is important for the development of the overall story line though.

I read the books when they came out, watched the series and really enjoyed the adaptation.. Strongly recommend empty netters (podcast and youtube channel) for green flag straight men talking about each episode.

Not yet, it doesn’t start here in the UK until January 10th. Looking forward to it.

I’m just watching Empty Netters reaction to the finale now - so good! I’ve watched all their videos.
Will be getting a Now TV subscription for the UK airing on 10th Jan too.

Would I be better reading the books or watching the programme?

QueenMabby · 02/01/2026 16:50

Both! I had already read the books before I knew there was a show so there was no choice for me. The show is really very faithful to the book and the adaptation is excellent. The showrunner, Jacob Tierney, was really happy to let the central relationship anchor the show unlike in many adaptations of romance (Bridgerton - I’m looking at you with your crazy side plots and shoe/horned in extra characters!) and he was very successful with that.

Just finished, was so good!

There’s another thread about this. I’m on it. I too have finished it and am obsessed. May need to watch again!
