Just in case anyone wants to watch again or watch for the first time.
I’m in awe of Pauline Quirke.

Cheers for this. Been ages since I watched this. Will give it a watch soon!

Ohh, excellent tip. Definitely worth a rewatch!

PermanentTemporary · 23/11/2025 21:02

It was so good. I don’t think I could watch it again though. It’s Jodie Comer isn’t it?

She was in Doctor Foster I think?

Jodie Whittaker

Skyellaskerry · 23/11/2025 21:06

Thanks OP! I started but didn’t finish series 1 when it was out so great I’ll be able to watch the whole thing

RightOnTheEdge · 23/11/2025 21:08

I loved Broadchurch! I don't think I could watch it again though now I know the ending and who did it.

MouseCheese87 · 23/11/2025 21:11

I never watched it when it was originally on. But binged series 1 the other day and it's the best thing I've seen in ages. Olivia Colman is the best.

PermanentTemporary · 23/11/2025 22:07

Oops yes Jodie Whittaker. I may not remember her name but I remember her performance, absolutely heartbreaking.

Member984815 · 23/11/2025 22:08

I watched the American version on prime , it's called gracepoint. I then watched broadchurch as I'd never seen it . Both excellent

Dontlletmedownbruce · 26/11/2025 23:28

Just finished 2 series. Never seen it before and I remember trying to find it a few years back so I was delighted to see it on Netflix. Amazing show, season 2 was also brilliantly done and really captured the longer effects an incident like that can have. I'm a bit slow to start 3, it's a new story and seems a bit contrived to have the same cast again.

WonderfulSmith · 26/11/2025 23:29

I tried it but couldn’t cope with the accents.

Snap! I thought it was brilliant. I haven’t started series 3 yet.

Thanks again OP for highlighting it.

ShaunaOfTheDead · 27/11/2025 08:07

Yes! Missed the original screening and have just watched series 1 & 2.

Just finished 3rd one , it's good, different type of story but worth watching trigger warning for sa. A lot of new cast

One thing I didn't get in season 2 was the way Granny's death (Beth's mum) was glossed over. This would have a major impact on them all. On Beth obviously, but also her daughter who would have seen her gran as a second mother given Beth was a teenage mother. The daughters boyfriend didn't make an appearance either and wasn't referenced. I felt it could have been addressed even just for a few minutes. I also wondered how the young couple dealt with the guilt for Jack's death, they led the witch hunt and again there was no discussion about this

Snooks1971 · 27/11/2025 19:07

I’m thanking myself for starting this thread because I didn’t realise that all three series are on Netflix - doh

Thankyou peeps for pointing out that there is a drop down box for all 3 series - starting series 2 right now Grin

I somehow managed to completely not being aware of this show until recently stumbling across it on Netflix. I binged watched Series 1 as I really wanted to know who done it, but had to fast forward through it towards the end as it was getting tedious. The ending left me, like, meh. Also, it has so many cliches its unreal. And a mum who looks younger than her supposedly 15 year old daughter😂

UK crime shows really not a patch on Scandi ones. This show has great actors and amazing scenery, but the story is, sadly, lacking.

Ah @localnotail I get you, but this series is 12 years old and in 2013 we could only watch it one episode a week at a time. At the time it was one of THE programmes to tune into, most lead actors weren’t very well known either.
Perhaps it’s nostalgia!

Yes absolutely, that’s true. I imagine that the production company (?) had no idea that they had a pre-streaming hit on their hands and so scrabbled around to get the main actors in for S.2 and not everyone was available. No idea though 😊

I've binged watched it and am now on third series. I absolutely love the relationship between Hardy and Millaaaaar they are like a married couple who bicker but really adore each other!

Also Jodie Whittaker is very, very pretty.

Skyellaskerry · 28/11/2025 20:40

@HalfWayAroundTheLoop I’m also on series 3, about half way through. I too love their relationship - I find Olivia Colman mesmerising. Jodie Whittaker brilliant. I’m getting to that stage of knowing I’ll be sad when I finish series 3 but it’s been so good.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/11/2025 20:44

Love broadchurch, it’s the first show we ever binge watched, I must have been pregnant with our son and I remember sitting up for hours and unable to go to bed until we’d watched it all! (On dvd!)
