The best TV shows are the ones that bring us some deliciously honest drama - and Wild Cherry is set to deliver just that.

The BBC's upcoming relationship drama follows two best friends and their teenage daughters, whose loyalties are pushed to breaking point when a scandal breaks out at their private school.

Exploring toxic relationships, social media and class, it’s a glossy series that’ll certainly put your emotions to the test!

Blending elements of popular dramas we love including Big Little Lies (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a34343298/big-little-lies-season-3-news-cast-plot-air-date/), Adolescence (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a63453816/adolescence-netflix/)and The White Lotus (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a64407803/the-white-lotus-series-4/), the action takes place in an ultra-wealthy gated community in the Home Counties.

Carmen Ejogo and Eve Best play the two "grown-up" best friends, Lorna and Juliet, who - despite living the same mega-rich lifestyle - come from very different backgrounds.

When their daughters are implicated in a scandal, everything changes - with Lorna and Juliet forced to take sides. And let's just say, things get pretty ugly.

The six-part thriller is set in Richford Lake, a fictional gated community in the Home Counties designed for the ultra-wealthy, where nothing bad ever happens (or does it..?).

There, we meet Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), a self-made, successful businesswoman from London who’s got where she is through hard work.

Then there’s her best friend Juliet (Eve Best), a woman born into privilege.

Their status as close confidants is suddenly thrown into question when their daughters, Grace and Allegra, are implicated in a shocking scandal at their private school.

Lorna and Juliet are forced to take sides, and their friendship is pushed to breaking point as they navigate privilege, power and betrayal.

According to the BBC’s official synopsis, Wild Cherry is a “provocative and deliciously honest look at mother/daughter relationships amid the whirlwind of social media, hidden apps and relentless peer pressure that asks: how far will we go to protect our children?

And just how much do teenage girls know about the women raising them? If the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, then who is leading these girls astray?”

Wild Cherry is created by Nicôle Lecky, who’s written on Eastenders and Death in Paradise (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a68151298/return-to-paradise-series-2/), plus her 2022 musical drama Mood, which won two BAFTAs.

Nicôle said the series was inspired by her experiences of the super-rich in England. “I used to drive through a gated community in Surrey and I would look at these mansions and think, ‘Gosh who lives there?’,” she told Deadline. “It had such a strong sense of an England that I hadn’t seen before. I knew I wanted to set something there.”

The cast of Wild Cherry includes:
• Carmen Ejogo (True Detective, The Penguin) as Lorna
• Eve Best (House of the Dragon, The King’s Speech) as Juliet
• Amelia May as Allegra, Juliet's daughter
• Imogen Faires (Goldie’s Oldies, Marcella) as Grace, Lorna's daughter
• Sophie Winkleman (Peep Show, Sanditon)
• Daniel Lapaine (Muriel’s Wedding)
• Hayat Kamille (Vikings: Valhalla)
• Isabelle Allen (Les Misérables, Find Me in Paris)
• James Murray (Masters of the Air, The Crown)
• Jason York (Mood, Dreaming Whilst Black)
• Katarina Čas (The Wolf of Wall Street)

The only Death in Paradise spin-off we need! Return to Paradise is back with a “fiendishly clever” series 2

Get ready for more sun, sea and murder as the BBC crime-comedy is back!

I've finished the entire series. It was a slow start but it was quite good as it went on. Allegras parents weren't exactly a good example were they?

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/12/2025 21:01

No they aren’t - last one is Saturday x

Enjoying this so far, only one episode in, great to see Big Suze now she’s grown up and still super posh

Mumblechum0 · 14/12/2025 00:09

I’m another one who thought Lorna was 30 years younger than Allegra’s mum, as Lorna had Gracewhen she was in her late teens, so 36ish now, and Eve Best looks like a (good looking) 60 plus, but there’s only 2 years between them irl.

i was also not convinced that the Eve Best character was supposedly Old Money, but lived in a vulgar McMansion, not a lovely Georgian Manor House.

Big Suze! Of course, thank you - it's been driving me mad trying to think where I know her from. Still posh, yes!

deeahgwitch · 14/12/2025 10:58

Are we really supposed to believe that they just bundled up Daniel, paid the brother to dump him and the police wouldn’t do a search for him and notice tyre tracks ?

JonSnowedUnder · 14/12/2025 11:09

The end was the most ridiculous part, man attacks privileged women and girls after chasing one of the girls into the woods, attacking her and they think the police wouldn't be sympathetic?! One of them has already demonstrated her father is a judge and would step in if asked. It would really be better to hide his body? Also, I watched it all a little while ago now so I might be misremembering but at that point didn't they think he was having an affair with at least one of the girls, sharing nudes and killed Ivy (I know he didn't but they didn't bow that) why would they actually need to cover up the death, it just seemed like a silly way to attempt to set up for a second season.

Also, just because the new boyfriend was a bit of a wide boy they expect he can adequately cover up a murder? He's not a mafia member, more likely to be able to get his hands on some coke and fireworks!

butterpuffed · 15/12/2025 08:45

Someone came round halfway though so I'll have to rewatch 😏

thisoldcity · 15/12/2025 12:54

The ending all seemed a bit rushed to me - they were all covered in blood (who actually whacked him in the end? Did I miss that or was it deliberately not shown?) and they managed to dump him in a car somehow and all get home okay. Leaving the two dodgy siblings to sort it out for them. Why does no one ever call the police and just tell them what happened?

Shellingbynight · 15/12/2025 13:20

@JonSnowedUnder I completely agree. I've been watching it TV pace, I enjoyed it to start with, it reminded me of the American type series like Big Little Lies that always star Reece Witherspoon. It may have had those aspirations but it got increasingly silly and the last episode was daft. It felt like EastEnders with cashmere.

JonSnowedUnder · 15/12/2025 13:28

@Shellingbynight 😂 EastEnders with cashmere is exactly right! It's a shame it got so silly as the budget was definitely decent...seemed to spend it on locations rather than script writing.

@thisoldcity I think they left it intentionally unclear as to who actually dealt the blow. Not that it matters that much now they've all joined together in covering up a crime and disposing a body.

Shellingbynight · 15/12/2025 13:50

@JonSnowedUnder Locations - and clothes! I agree it looked expensive, which is unusual nowadays.

(Oh and it didn't help credibility that the actress who played Grace is 23 - and looked it.)

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/12/2025 14:41

Wow. Just seen e6. Busy weekend

so Juliet Lorna and daughters kill Daniel , Jocasta dad thinking he killed iris

but it was actually noori who killed her because Daniel made her feel special and she was jealous

so Daniel was a perve - but not a killer

was it Grace who hit/killed Daniel

it wasn’t clear - but all covered it up and then Gigi tech blackmailed /helped them so Juliet wouldn’t tel her secret of being a liar

so do they find Daniel’s body or think he did a runner as guilty due to website an thy blame him for being iris’s killer

but I very much enjoyed this series

not sure if will be a s2 and what will happen

OP posts:
butterpuffed · 15/12/2025 15:27

So Noori killed Iris but not sure which one killed Daniel and they were all covering up, but wouldn't his body be found in the car . They'd all be questioned again .

Not a satisfactory ending .

JonSnowedUnder · 15/12/2025 15:54

How did the lady (forgotten all names) who married the widower manage to actually get married and travel internationally with him without him figuring out she wasn't who she claimed to be? I liked her unhinged moment of screaming while the pool filled but I don't think it actually matched with the back story they gave her which was more of an opportunist/gold digger than a bit crazy trying to fit in with the other ladies.

thisoldcity · 15/12/2025 16:17

Series 2 to follow this up maybe? All of them have something on each other and Gigi has the most on them all probably and they all hate each other. I would be interested to see what her brother does next now he's transformed into rich American teen!
