God this really shocked me, just didn’t expect to be told that lovely caring young paramedic had passed away so unexpectedly.

RIP, I believe it was her funeral today and have been thinking of her family and friends

I was shocked too. Do you know what happened?

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 11/11/2025 19:40

I knew it was coming. Stephanie Haselden.. God took one of the best.
My condolences to Braydon her partner and Maggie and Phil her parents.
My friend knew her and her family very well... ( especially from Castleford cricket club)
Yes the funeral was today at Cottingly and the Wake in Morley.. not far from where l live.
I don't think it's my place to say what her illness was... so sad.
May you rest in peace Steph.🌹

So very sad, she was so lovely and caring to the little school boy who’d been hit by a car and calmed him so much when he was scared. She was absolutely brilliant in explaining to him about the sats monitor .
RIP Stephanie .

Friendlyfart · 11/11/2025 20:26

I watched it earlier on catch-up, and was very shocked to see that.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2025 21:53

Am I the only person thinking how inappropriate the conversation with the paramedic and the foster carer is. He really shouldn’t be offloading on her!

Footle · 11/11/2025 21:57

@Toddlerteaplease: no, you’re not the only one

Absolutely! Talk about blurring boundaries- I’m sure the foster carer had enough to worry about that day without him offloading on her.

RalphtheMouth · 11/11/2025 22:00

Totally agree - absolutely inappropriate!

Santasbigredbobblehat · 11/11/2025 22:02

What was wrong with his child?

Yes this was dreadful. Very unprofessional.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/11/2025 22:20

He said he had some limb deformities and was on overnight ventilation but missed if there was a diagnosis. The foster carer had a brand new child she’s just met. I’m sure she had plenty on her plate at that moment.

I don't remember a foster carer...was it in the same episode?

Toddlerteaplease · 12/11/2025 06:14

It was on last night.

GinandGingerBeer · 12/11/2025 13:38

No last nights. The paramedics son was born quadriplegic- he was clearly suffering and hadn’t come to terms with it at all. Understandably- as they didn’t know until he was born 😢
But he shouldn’t have offloaded to a foster carer who had called for an ambulance due to her (what appeared to be a young) foster child ripping her own hair out /biting herself.

StressyMcStressFace · 12/11/2025 18:02

Is this on BBC iplayer ?

Toddlerteaplease · 12/11/2025 18:07

@GinandGingerBeeryes, their situations were not at all comparable, so I couldn’t see why it needed to be mentioned at all. Although it’s obviously edited.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2025 07:16

Yorkshire ambulance service has put a post on about sharing emotions and featuring the paramedic in this episode. I was the only person who has commented about it was unprofessional! Everyone else thinks it’s good he was opening up. 🤔

purpleme12 · 15/11/2025 22:46

Really sad

Nessy101 · 19/11/2025 21:02

I was so shocked at the end of the episode as I'm sure like most people, I wasn't expecting to see that Steph had passed away. So tragic at such a young age.

Nessy101 · 19/11/2025 21:05

I see both sides. I think the paramedic just needed to offload at that particular moment and it was just unfortunate that it was a conversation that he had with a Social Worker whilst on an emergency call. I totally understand that you shouldn't blur the lines between trying to remain professional whilst in a work environment but it seemed like the poor man just needed that little bit of reassurance.

purpleme12 · 24/11/2025 22:14

She was the foster carer for the girl, not a social worker
